Oh, nice. Yes, I just listened to the two songs they have in their music
player.

It sounds pretty mainstream and non-original. But it has a nice sound like
it was made before '00. Older style. The music is also simple, which is
good in this case.

Their singer and guitarist can use some practicing, but that is naturally a
part of listening to an independent band. I like how independent bands
mess up and are not perfect. It ... just sounds better in my opinion.

No one is perfect. But recording studios try to make them perfect. Know
what I am saying?

Re: Music

They do that on PURPOSE...
Bands are better live than they are on CD, most of the time. It's a fact. It's made "perfect" as you call it, in studios to give records an extra feel and effects that you can't hear live. These are only quick demos. It sounds NOTHING like mainstream. If you've listened to as many bands as I have then you would know. Mainstream = Fall Out Boy scene bullcrap. Mainstream = Kanye West. Mainstream = Miley Cyprus. This is NOTHING. I suggest not being so narrow-minded.

I meant mainstream as in general pop rock feel. Just with the
added "independent band" factor. I never said I didn't like that band,
either.

Plus, I really don't see why you're hating on pop-punk music because last time I looked on your website you had a My Chemical Romance song on your little playlist. You also had Jimmy Eat World, a fairly popular alternative band.

... yet most of that music is from 3 years ago. You can't judge off of that
playlist. I only go there to listen to certain songs before I download them
from Lime Wire.

[Edit:] Updated playlist.

It's from 3 years ago, but 3 years ago is considered part of today's modern music. Now you're just making excuses.

Swaffy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_music

Anyway, I don't hate all modern music...though MTV stuff just plain sucks. The 90s had some better music, though, like the riot grrl movement (do not judge from the name). Bands that don't stick strictly to their genre  are also great (ex. Angelspit).

Don't worry, your're not missing anything. It's just digital stuff. Not much different to techno or other modern computer music.

Oh, the stuff that doesn't even take a real band to make. Got it.

Yeah, I play real music. Yet, it is still entertaining to play around with
computer drum machines. [Bass pedal going at 750 BPM Hahaha...]

Re: Music

I would be torn between gothic/heavy metal and 60's rock & pop/folk. I was probably choose the folk style 60s music like Bob Dillan or Donovan or the more rocky like The Beatles or The Seekers etc. smile I do like some classy metal bands though, like Opeth or (old) Nightwish.

Although I have to say, my favourite group of today would have to be The Coral. They play in the 60's style, and I love that.

Re: Music

When you said that you didn't even need a band to make "House-music" I couldn't help but hear AC/DC's "Lumberjacker" song where the got rid of the guitar almost and substituted in a Chainsaw.. lol... I laughed the first time I heard it... but any how... I had to add that.

Ugh, these comments I find are extremely ignorant. This one is quite a bit more intrusive than a simple opinion. I can say that most modern-day bands sound like garbage and sound all the same, but that's because I haven't taken the time to discern the different genres/subgenres and appreciate them as such. Back in the 80s or early 90s, the converse might actually be true, when house music's popularity was at its peak!

To the uninformed, house music is a branch of techno that's often played at clubs. As a subgenre it has a wide range of sounds, but on a whole it's a whole lot classier than plain techno I think, soundwise. More often than not have lyrics as well.

I don't believe techno and house music is getting the same treatment as rock is because these days the masses love alternative and indie rock. Thus, you have such ignorant comments like the one I'm quoting above - the comments make an attempt to redefine what is "good" or "bad" music.
Your comment suggests that house music isn't made with the same dedication as rock music, or the music is less satisfying, as a result of the music being mainly made with synthesizers. You obviously need to make music of your own before you can make such arrogant comments.

Music made by a band of four requires a different kind of work. You have rehearsals, the actual instruments, and perhaps additional aesthetics. That is not to say that house music takes less work and therefore deserves less praise, nor does it mean that one person usually composes the song.

I can apply all of the above comments to other kinds of music composed by synthesizers.

My closing comment to both Spinner, Swaffy, and everyone else whose head is buried under sand is that you should do your ****ing research first before discounting any musical genre. My sister has said the same to me when I critique her U2 and Arcade Fire songs. Appreciation will come after you've delved yourself into the genre a bit - then you can appreciate even subtle differences, like sub-subgenres. Having a dislike to a certain genre because you don't like its sound is one thing, undermining a genre's greatness or potential is VERY different.
House music is very real music to me. Disagree? Fine, but don't stick your opinion up my *** like that next time. I do NOT appreciate it.

Re: Music

Plenty of different types of music . Techno is one of them , just because it may lack the amount of people that have to put effort into it doesn't mean that there is less effort  in general . Wake up , so what is you don't like it , that doesn't mean others won't like it . Rock and "House" music are different , they cannot be compared so easily . Techno has inner beauty in it . So simply shut up .

Agreed completely.
The main genre I listen to is alternative/indie and that's the main station I listen to if I ever listen to the radio, but I'm very open and accept all kinds of music. I listen to so many things, from James Blunt to Alesana, from Old School punk A Fire Inside to Britney Spears. I love to try out new artists. I like to try to spread the word about some artists. I don't like it when people are insulting things that they've never heard or won't give a chance because of their picky, arrogant minds. I may not be a fan of everything but I'm happy that I'm open, and I think that that's a feature that every good musician needs to have, or at least a musician that takes his/her job seriously. If you think that it's COOL to hate on things that you've never tried/barely heard to make your opinions and judgements on, you're wrong.

Lmao. Overreact much? If you must know, I am a classically trained musician, have been in about 6 bands (heavy metal, hiphop and psychodelic) over the last 7 years, and went to music college. I am in two bands now, have released 7 albums as a solo artist and therefore, your attempt to make my opinion sound invalid because "I have to make music to understand" has failed. I can't change the way I think, I cannot stand modern music, and cannot tolerate music past the 70's, With the exception of very few bands ie; The Coral, Opeth, etc.. But that's just me.

My statement stands.

However

Nobody is telling you not to like it. And what's more, I was not trying to troll you into a fight. I think you need to stop getting worked up over opinions on the internet. Because there's lots of them, and it will drive you crazy.

Sure, no one is telling you not to like it, but it's not the best way to say that you don't like it, i.e. "That's not real music".
