Spyro Comic Title

Hello, dahlings!

Yeesh, it's been a while since I started a post here.

I asked for help on this matter on dA and got a little, but I'm still having trouble. Here's the deal: I'm working on an Elora-centric, alternate universe Spyro fancomic for Just for Faun. Everything is all worked out but...I still don't have a title for the thing. I've never had so much trouble coming up with titles.

In short, I need your help, good people of Spyroforum, in coming up with a title for this comic!

The Story

This comic takes place in an alternate universe in which Ripto does succeed in taking over Avalar. The main story starts about three years after his reign begins. Avalar is still mostly functional but it's suffering under Ripto's stubby little heel. In fact, the only reason Avalar is in as good a shape as it is is because of King Ripto's adviser, Elora (who was taken hostage by Ripto pretty much immediately upon his arrival). She pretends to be a submissive servant but is constantly using Ripto's ego to better the lives of everyone living in Avalar as much as she can.

But, of course, Elora isn't going to be Ripto's slave forever and she's got plans to make her escape and perhaps figure out some way to save Avalar for good. Of course, her plans don't quite work out and things just get worse when the tiny group of Avalar rebels opens a portal that summons ten wingless baby dragons, a distraught bunny sorceress-in-training, and one very angry, one-winged dragon by the name of Spyro...

Naturally, Elora is the main character in this story and she's the hero. It's mostly adventure with a bit of fluff thrown in (because I'm a crazy Spyro/Elora fan big_smile ). There are no fan characters and will not be any, ever, so please don't ask. This story also has nothing to do with LoS or any games other than the original Insomniac trilogy. The story is completely figured out, it just needs a title.

Originally, I was going to call it "No Dragons in Avalar" but...well... That stopped making sense pretty early on. big_smile Other suggestions that were close but not quite there were "A Glimmer of Hope", "The Light in the Darkness", "Broken Heroes", "Ruins of Avalar", "Dark Ruler of Avalar", "The Princess of Avalar", "Elora's Escapade", and "The comic where Elora finally plays a major role - whoohoo!".

These are all good titles but most of them are a bit too dark and serious. While there are dark moments in the story, it's more of an adventure comic with a decent amount of humor thrown in. I'm trying to stay close to the feel of the Insomniac games here.

Hmm, I'm not good with titles but I'll give it a shot.

So as a sum up:

Ripto takes over Avalar

Elora is his "faithful" servant

Elora is secertly trying to save Avalar even with Ripto still in power

Avalar Rebels summon Spyro, a sorcessors in training, and ten other baby dragons.

Hmm since its about freeing Avalar from Ripto's rule:

Liberation of Avalar.

This old king.

Rise of a Queen.

Ripto's Fall

Scales and Fur: A tale of Liberation (I actually like that one)

Feisty Dragon hidden Faun big_smile

The memoir of a Faun

Memoir of Avalar

The faun, the dragon and the midget king.

An adventure in the land of Magic.

The Letters of Freedom.

No country for one-horned-midget-Kings.

Yeah, that's all I can think of... uh if you give me more, y'know like character personalities I think I can do better than that.

"Feisty Dragon hidden Faun"

I am deeply amused. XD

"Memoirs of Avalar" or "Memoirs of Riptonia" might work...

Personality-wise, the characters are pretty close to what they are in "Ripto's Rage" and "Year of the Dragon".

Elora - a bit motherly, concerned for the well-being of others even above her own welfare, clever, has the makings of a great leader

Spyro - strong, brash, gets angry for good reasons, will do what he must to protect what he loves, kind of a smart-alick and occasionally rushes into situations without thinking things all the way through

Hunter - still clumsy but a few years living in hiding have made him grow up

Bianca - (she's the aformentioned sorceress-in-training); traumatized and shell-shocked, very guilty over her crimes, sweet-natured and willing to do whatever she has to set right her own wrongs

Ripto - self-serving, conniving, cowardly when it comes down to it, and arrogant

The Professor - befuddled and pretty brain-dead for most of the comic

Gulp - friendlier than he seems, will work for food

Crush - easily coerced, a bit cruel

Moneybags - self-serving, money-grubbing traitor big_smile

The little dragons - meek, sweet-tempered and as helpful as they can be

I think that's everyone...

Well, lemme brainstorm a bit. I'm good with dark titles, and I did post one on the Spyro picture. Lemme list ones that come off the top of my head.

"The Light in the Darkness" (one I posted on dA)

"Dark Reign"

"Crusade of Avalar"

"Gateway to Riptoria" (pun intended, kinda Insomiacish)

"Servant by Light, Hero by Dark" (relating to Elora)

"Year of the Faun" (wordplay once again lol)

Meh, I'll post again with more ideas.

Hmm, it has to be humorous, freeing Avalar, and Elora is the main character... ... ... ... ...

How about just "Elora" ? Its a nice name, exotic, original (I guess), magical...

Lancer232: "The Light in the Darkness" is still an awesome title, it's just a bit too dark for this comic, I think. I like "Crusade of Avalar" and "Year of the Faun"; both have a very nice ring to them. smile

Saeth: Oh dear. XD Well, "Just for Faun" was nice and pun-ish... I shall have to put "Faun'd Memories" in the idea bin, though I'm not sure it quite fits (since this story isn't a memory but a sequence of events that I'm pretty sure most of the cast are not fond of...except maybe Ripto big_smile ).

Hmmm... "Elora" also has a nice ring to it. It's so simple. I shall mull all of these over.

I think a good title is "King Ripto Falls."

Spyro (As he is in Dawn Of The Dragon) and Cynder fly to Avalar, and Ripto becomes a crispy critter. smile

No, no, there will be no LoS stuff in this particular story. Traveling to one alternate universe is enough for one comic. big_smile I did have a story idea some time back that involved just little Cynder coming to Elora's universe. I ought to e-mail Rainy and get back to that sometime... *shrug*

Anyway... These might help with coming up with the title.
