How many here use cheats, cheat disks, and such?

When playing a Spyro game, how many here use cheats, guidebooks, cheat disks like "Game Shark," etc?

I do both.

Sometimes with, sometimes without.
I do have the Prima guidebook for Dawn Of The Dragon, and Game Shark for the Playstation 1.

What stuff can you do with Game Shark? I know you can 'hack' the game, and it goes further than just 'cheats' out of a cheatbook, but can you clarify what stuff you can actually do on the three games.

With the Game Shark I have, it can make Spyro invulnerable in "Spyro the Dragon," in "Ripto's Rage" it can do likewise, and give him all the abilities he normally would have to buy from Moneybags, and even fireball.

It doesn't work too well for "Year Of The Dragon."
Screws up the game, most notably in the early parts.

Can't you get to that island in Midnight Mountain though?

I've seen videos of it on Youtube, all that's up there are three lives.

I usually play the game without any cheating, and if i really like it (like spyro) i explore every cheat i can, just 4fun

I only use cheats after I beat a game, to avoid sapping the fun out of it.

Same here.
Except when I find a game I can't beat.

For instance, I beat the first "Legend Of Spyro" game. but couldn't get past "Skabb" in "The Eternal Night," or past the lava golem in "Dawn Of The Dragon."

I only use cheat codes when I have completed the game. If I use a cheat code because something was too hard, I wouldn't forgive myself :-P
If I struggle, I take a break from the game and play it again later. Cheating is only something I do for fun, not to help me. Or... doing it for fun helps me entertain myself.
I've never used a gameshark and does not know how it works.
But I use gamefaqs if I'm stuck. I doesn't think of that as cheating(well, it cind of is :-P ), as it doesn't do the challenges for me.

After I beat the game 100%, I copy the disc onto my computer and try to mod it. Somehow I managed to crossover DotD and TEN. I made TEN Spyro's fire breath shoot out Malefor heads. o_O
I always delete the file from my computer, though. I don't want my bro burning it and selling it on Ebay. He would do anything for easy money.

Meh, I avoid using cheats and such. Unless, of course, I've beaten the game 5 times (*cough*KH2*cough*). Then I use every cheat I can find out of curiosity to see what I can do. Aside from that, I only use cheats on the lamest of games.

i only use cheast on a game once ive beaten it once otherwise there is no point as u dont know if u can do it wivout em bt still some cheats r fun to use and quite handy

I don't play many games anymore, but I've never used cheats to get through a game. Even if I can't beat it, sometimes I'll come back to it weeks or months later and be able to do it easily. There's no sense of accomplishment if you just cheat to get through it.

Pokemon games are a bit different, though; there are some Pokemon that are literally impossible to find without an Action Replay, so I'll sometimes use that if I have to.

Hey! I had Action Replay for Xbox. I mainly used it for Halo 2. I was on
Metropolis bridge, and there were literally 100 elites with energy swords,
and 50 humans with shotguns. It was epic! Also, I could drive any vehicle,
including Pelicans and Phantoms... Along with the Shade and the Prophet's
hover chair. Yeah! ... But now I have an Xbox 360. My Original Xbox got
stolen, along with my 20+ games for it, and mods, too.

[Oh God, I miss Action Replay. [almost cries]]
