What do you see as the original Spyro?

I myself am seeing Spyro the Dragon, Spyro: Gateway To Glimmer/Spyro: Riptos Rage and Spyro: Year of the dragon as the original Spyro. What about you, people? smile

The first three games or all the games before TLOS?

Definitely Spyro's 1, 2, and 3. The original trilogy. It annoys me when TLoS fans think that when you say original Spyro it means any other games besides TLoS. Hero's Tail and some of the handhelds were okay, but no where near the quality of the first three games.

Thats exactly how I feel it too. Sometimes when I discuss Original Spyro VS TLOS Spyro, I forget that some people may think about AHT, Shadow Legacy, etc... as a part of the original Spyro <_<

Here's how I see it:
Original Spyro= 1, 2, 3
Old Spyro= Everything except TLOS

Usually Old Spyro refers to the actual Series before the reboot, while Original Spyro refers to The First 3 games.

Well, if more people think that way, I've been backing up "Old" Spyro as well, when I really meant to be talking about the original 3. =P

I consider "original" Spyro to be the three games developed by Insomniac. It kind of bugs me when people (mostly TLoS fans, surprise surprise) claim that original Spyro sucked because they lump AHT and ETD in with the "original" label. Like DDR said, when I defend "original Spyro," I mean Spyro 1-3, not ETD, AHT, and the handhelds.

I abstain. I think the only Spyro game that was the 'original' Spyro was...well...the original Spyro. Spyro 2 and YotD had significant changes to depart them from the original.

The three games by Insomniac are the only games I consider to be the original Spyro series. They were the first games, they had a uniform style, and they were all made by the same company.

The games following the Insomniac trilogy were abysmal, poorly-made knock-offs that don't deserve to be classed with a set of games that were literally innovative in their day.

I consider the Insomniac games to be the originals because they were made by the original company that started the game and they all had the same style of gameplay. I consider the Insomniac games and ETD and AHT to all be old Spyro but only the Insomniac games as original Spyro because ETD and AHT were on different consoles and were made by different companies and they were no where near as good as the Insomniac games.

original trilogy and all the GBA ones (4). The only one i didnt like was the orange (cmon... minigames????¬¬)
