Re: MERRY CHRISMAS!!! CAN YOU SAY IT?!?!
But not everyone has the same religion or even have a religion for me its happy holidays heck If me parents did not celebrate this holiday I wouldn't either since I have a harder time with my money since I buy people presents because most of my family is Christians. We do the Happy Holidays out of respects for the other person, If its people you know and love then go for it but for others just says holidays ![]()

Re: MERRY CHRISMAS!!! CAN YOU SAY IT?!?!
Also even if you are Christians not everybody celebrates Christmas on 25th December... Me, I'm an atheist and I don't like religion as a whole but I do respect the tradition that lasts for thousands of years and being part Orthodox church for me Christmas is on January 7th and it is annoying when someone says Marry Christmas since it's not Christmas for me yet but also we don't say Marry Christmas but Peace of God, Christ is born(Мир Божији Христос се роди) and the answer is Verily, he has been born(Ваистинусе роди) so again even if you do celebrate Christmas it doesn't mean that marry Christmas is the right greeting all of the time....
There you learned a something new today....
Also talking about Christmas I lOVE the Christmas songs they sings on TV..they make me feel so relaxed...

Re: MERRY CHRISMAS!!! CAN YOU SAY IT?!?!
Couple of things;
1) There are other holidays at around the same time. Its all about staying in business. If you only said "Merry Christmas," the black people and Jewish people would take their business elsewhere.
2) Christmas is not about Jesus. Contrary to popular belief, Jesus wasn't born in December.
3) I celebrate Christmas (OMFGWTF RAIDON CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS!!!!1111oneoneoen), just Commercialized Christmas. All the greed of Christmas with none of the meaning. ![]()

Swaffy wrote:-In short, people need to pull themselves together and treat Christmas the way it should be treated. It mainly starts off with calling it Christmas. IT IS ABOUT THE BIRTH OF JESUS, you know. If you take Christ out of Christmas, you get Mas. "Happy Holidays" is a Mass of bull crap.
I think the main reason for the political correctness of "Happy Holidays" isn't just to cater to atheists and agnostics, but to respect people who have different religious beliefs that do not recognize "the birth of Jesus." If I believed in a religion that doesn't celebrate Christmas, I might not like being constantly pounded by the hype of a holiday that pays respect to only a certain religion.
Uh, hello? THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST IS WHY WE CELEBRATE CHRISMAS!!!! If my buisness offended somebody for me saying Merry Christmas well sorry.

Except Jesus wasn't actually born in December. He was born in Spring.

Re: MERRY CHRISMAS!!! CAN YOU SAY IT?!?!
No one knows the real date he was born. I've heard so many random dates/seasons.
December 25th was chosen to appease the pagans.

Lol. Just lol.
I never questioned the meaning of Christmas. I'm just making an explanation, and I'm not even endorsing the increase in political correctness.

Please allow me to correct your statement, RaidonMakoto. The Bible
doesn't directly say when Jesus was born. But it does say that it was cold
outside, along with other small notes. Judging by these notes, it is said that
Jesus was born closest to December 25th. This is a firm statement.
Easter is when Jesus Christ had risen from his death. He was not born on
this date or month.
It has been well over 2,000 years that the Bible has existed. There is also,
from my guess, a possibility that certain smaller parts of the Bible have
evolved, or changed. I don't mean events like the birth of Jesus Christ, but
small stuff like the setting and time Jesus was born. This is only my
little "theory" of what could have happened to the Bible. But doubtable.
I hope this helped you along with others, too.

Umm... no. The Bible says the farmers were out in their fields. Last I checked, farmers don't farm in winter. The reason Christmas is on December 25th is to detract from Pagan celebrations of the Winter Solstice.

Re: MERRY CHRISMAS!!! CAN YOU SAY IT?!?!
What I don't understand is why it's supposed to be "excluding people" to wish them a happy holiday that they don't celebrate. If someone came up to me and said "Happy Hanukkah," I wouldn't be offended in the slightest, especially not if the area I happened to be in was predominantly Jewish. =/

Re: MERRY CHRISMAS!!! CAN YOU SAY IT?!?!
Christ was taken out of Christmas a long time ago, fyi.
Now it's just a capitalized commercial holiday celebrated with sales and consumerism and greed by both families and the corporations.
Not to mention Jesus isn't real.
tl;dr: MERRY CHRISTMAS.
hello
may God bless you with his presence in the near futureand give your poor rag of a soul a chance to be worth something
i just want to say im sorry you feel this way
and good bye :'( :'(

"poor rag of a soul" is definitely a way to get me to believe in your religion.
But it doesn't really matter since souls aren't real.

True, but in a way, he's right (sans blanket arrogant statements). Christmas really is a shell of a holiday now, only celebrated by corporations. That's why I've made the clear distinction that I celebrate commercialized Christmas. ![]()

Re: MERRY CHRISMAS!!! CAN YOU SAY IT?!?!
It really depends who is celebrating it, now does it? Saying its a shell of a holiday that only corporations celebrate is quite a broad statement, excluding all those that do celebrate it for its religious value (Like me.). Of course the corporations like Christmas for all the revenue it brings in from the commercialized Christmas celebrators, but to say that no one celebrates it for it's religious meaning and value is just plain wrong.
Now shh! No more posting. This thread is supposed to be locked ![]()
