Spyro names are just words spelt differently...

Ok... this is wierd...

Almost every single name in Spyro is just a word spelt like a 5 year old:

Cinder: Cynder
Sparks: Sparx
Cane: Kane
etc...

I can name a few dozen more, but I will let you guys figure it out.

Anyway, what is your opinion on this kind of stuff? I think it is kind of funny...

Re: Spyro names are just words spelt differently...

Actually, I learned that Gaul is ancient France, so that might be how they got it. But on the others, I dunno. And I think Spyro can be an abbreviation for spyralling pyronetics (fancy word for fire-making equipment), but that's my opinion.

Re: Spyro names are just words spelt differently...

PYROmaniac (like to burn stoof)
PYRO
add an 's' + Spyro
Spyro likes to set stoof on fire coz he's a dragon!!
fire is related to PYRO

Re: Spyro names are just words spelt differently...

Even if they are made from regular words the names are still creative.

But wouldn't it be cool if when teachers asked for spiral notebooks instead they ask for Spyro notebooks.

Re: Spyro names are just words spelt differently...

It was like that because THe developers were so uncreative that they couldn't come up with any good names, so they just used firey names for dragons or element names for the element dragons.
Malefor was the only creative name, it wasn't created from anything, it was just made to sound Evil.
Cane is just a name.
But yeah....
Ember
Flame
Cynder
S-Pyro
Spark-s
Volt-eer
Terra-dor
Ignit-us

etc

Re: Spyro names are just words spelt differently...

I think you'll find that Ripto is not another spelling of something, but is, in fact, what the word "Spyro" looks like in Japan[ese]. I wonder how the japanese reacted to it? Must have been confused as heck, for one thing.

I don't think it's "spiral" but more as "pyro". Just with an s at the end.

Re: Spyro names are just words spelt differently...

When you think about it, ALL names, and even all words, are just other words spelled differently. For example:

Crystal = Pillows (C instead of P, r instead of i, y and s instead of l, t instead of o, a instead of w, l instead of s)

Cat = Bob (C for B, a for o, t for b)

Once Insomniac's done with R&C, I hope they go back to the Spyro series...

Yeah, that's a bit of a stretch. I think he meant changing one or two letters around, or words that sound the same.

Yeah, I figured it could have been a joke, but I just wasn't really sure.
