Best game in the original trilogy?

I don't think so. I think Spyro 1 has...that certain thing about it that makes it superior to every other Spyro game ever made.

I dont think this is the best Spyro game. I think that YOTD was. I think that this is the 2nd best though. YOTD was the 1st Spyro game i ever played and it just has something more for me. I also think it has better levels and funner mini games and also a better storyline.

Well, for me, this isn't the best in the trilogy, my favorite is Year of the Dragon, though I've never beat it. xD Then in second is the first, Spyro the Dragon, then comes Ripto's Rage. I don't know why, I just really didn't like the game as much as the others...the levels, I guess.

I used to think this was the worst of the bunch. (But still good) Although I replayed it a few years later and took notice of the little things, like how great that final boss was and how fun the sidequests were. (Well, most of them.) I can't really decide between Year of the Dragon and this one now, but maybe I'll say Ripto's Rage just because the music was better.

The first game though, I think is the best. In my opinion, none of the later games could match up to its level design.

This game has alot of levels that annoy me, such as Idol Springs, Fracture Hills, Robotica Farms and Coloussus. However, I think its the 2nd best in the series because of the side quests, the characters and the other levels.

Ripto's Rage was my favorite of them, but not the best, ichiban, whatever you want to call it, per say. I think the characters were alot cooler in this game, but I think the first game was the 'best', by fun and etc.

Why is it that so many people think that Spyro the Dragon was the best game? Compared to YOTD i dont think its very good. But i do like it. smile

Spyro 2 was certianly MY favorite in the original trilogy. And about Spyro the Dragon. I personally think it's a great game because it's a classic. Not many poeple seem to think of it on that level. They think it sucks because 2 and 3 came out and they were better than the first. Sure 2 and 3 may have had for bells and whistles but STD is what started it all. I still love playing it.

Definitely my favorite. Since I basically acquired it first than the other two. To be honest, it was my first Play Station game ever. And the Play Station was my first bought console ever. So yes, this game was totally precious to me and I'd do so, so much to get to play it again, I loved it and completed it 100%. T.T

I change my mind sometimes with which one I consider the best, but I still prefer the first overall. This and YOTD are really just as great though.

Maybe not the best but still my favorite..
It had so many goos stuff plus it's way my first PS1 game big_smile

The orb missions were so great....some of them were pretty challenging too...

It also had the best last boss battle out of all the Spyro games by far!

Also it introduces Hunter, my favorite Spyro character....

im a huge YOTD fan but i cant beat it yet
just the feeling of YOTD makes me feel smile like finding dragon eggs and doing challenges make me intrested in spyro 3 and of course agent 9 isnt in spryo 1 or 2

I think It's one of the best definately and I LOVE THE GAME SO MUCH!
I love all of them so its a difficult decision.
I think Year of the Dragon is my favourite out of all 3 original games.
Ripto's Rage is my second favourite out of all 3 original games.

Mine obviously is Year Of The Dragon its more of a game for me although Ripto's rage was second i love the games where you can collect stuff Yotd was my thing didn't you just love it when the Dragon egg hatched (good times)

Yeahhh tongue I loved collecting hatchlings. Was a very nice experience. Ripto's Rage was my second favorite because you get to collect Orbs tongue I loved collecting Orbs when I was younger, I used to think they were very.. shiny. tongue

I think that the original is the best for its music that definetley beats the others, the simpler nature, the more bright and beautiful scenery, the six homeworlds instead of 3 or 4, the more challenging flight levels, dark hollow, the good feeling of releasing a dragon, the fact that I can continuely play it all day and not get bored... the memories (we can all agree that spyro games are the only games that give us memories)... and I love the other ones sooo much too... basically they are all good for different reasons. Can I geta I AGREE!?

I don't agree with you on what you said about Spyro being the only game that give you memories. I have lots of games that give me memories as well, such as the old Crash Bandicoot games, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank and Grand theft Auto Vice City
