Re: Is it actually true???
Yeah, they're just stupid chain letters made to scare you and pass it on. Dont listen to them, they're not true.

Re: Is it actually true???
Are you serious... I realise you're 11, but still...
yes, everyone is correct, they are called chain letters, i seriously doubt there was a death threat in any of them, generally some loser has started an email and to make superstitious people keep it going he will say something bad will happen if you dont
calling the police will almost definitely do absolutely nothing, technically spam/chain mail can be illegal but i think the local police force would have more important things to do with their time

Re: Is it actually true???
When people send you e-mails saying stuff like "if you dont pass this on to others then you will die" is it actually true???
.......it's an email. it's little bits of data in the form of 1s and 0s going through a network of computers that your monitor displays as text on your screen.
It can't do anything, the letter wouldn't even know if it was ever sent. It's not sentient. It's just... an email.

Re: Is it actually true???
There is no such thing as a cursed e-mail...Curses only come attached to old artifacts. Such as Old Sacrafical daggers...or what ever. The Crystal Skulls are a great examply. Yes the Crystal Skulls are real.

Re: Is it actually true???
This isn't true in the slightest. People just want to see how many people they can get to read it.

Re: Is it actually true???
Your Emails have IP addresses encoded on them. These IP addresses are recorded on a hidden part of the Email. Your IP will be recorded when you send/pass on the email. If someone knows how to extract these numbers, they can know where you live. When Gobbelcoque got banned and his IP was shown in public, I fired up a traceroute and found out where his house is.

Re: Is it actually true???
Seriously, my sister made up an email meant to be chained, just to see how many people would react and pass the message on. Anyone can do it. All you need are these three things:
1. an unbelievable yet seemingly believable message that can compell people to pass on the message
2. a threat (or else...)
3. font other than Times New Roman or Arial and of abnormal size and color
optional but frequently used: request for donation money because your mother was injured in a car crash, children of Africa, etc. (whatever your story was)

What good is an IP address? It would do you no good as IP traces are only accurate to the state/province, sometimes only to the country, not to mention dynamic IPs.
Its useless, and don't lie about tracing people to their "house" aka Country.

Re: Is it actually true???
I hate chain letters.
I get them as YouTube bulletins all the time.
I just delete them and don't repost them.
I don't want my friends on there to get freaked out by it and they're annoying to have.
Everyone knows I only eat Cynder fangirls.

Re: Is it actually true???
Sometimes I just wonder why people even believe/repost chain letters. Its bad enough I have to suffer from craploads of spam mail. (theyre really blocked and are stored in this APPriver spamlab, but I hate seeing 20 pages of it, no I dont really see 20 pages of it but since I'm so inactive on my main e-mail sometimes it hides and as I delete them more keep appearing...stupid e-mail) lol

Re: Is it actually true???
The worst ones I've ever seen I get through myspace bulletins. They're really bad because they like to put like, 50 blank lines in the middle of a sentence.
I also occasionally get one that says some little kid is dying, and the make a wish foundation is donating money for every person who reposts the bulletin (implying they have any way of knowing).

They can plant Web bugs in emails to get a list of IPs who viewed it.
