Dragons-why?
Why do people wish that dragons were real? Two things would happen:Either we killed dragons, or dragons kill us. I, personally, would not like dragons to be real.

Re: Dragons-why?
The more appropriate question:
Why people believe they are real.
Here's my take: I believe they are real for a personal reason. Plus they won't kill us if we don't give them a reason to.

What makes you think that they won't kill us?

Re: Dragons-why?
Simple.
Tigers only kill people when they venture into their territory AND if it feels the person has been given enough warning in the form of growls.
Dragons are also territorial.

What if they didn't exist in the first place?
Dragons aren't real. We've combed the surface of this planet many times over, and we have no scientific evidence for their existence. Not even a corpse or skeleton. Unless they're hiding deep underground or at the bottom of the ocean, they're not real.
Oh, and if Dragons were real, and one attempted to fly, NORAD would catch it on radar, especially since we're so scared of missiles nowadays.

Re: Dragons-why?
If they were real, they could possibly kill us, unless we don't mess with them, then they won't attack.
I don't believe they're real but I wish they were cuz what if they were like Eragon!? That would be AWESOME!

Exactly what I was thinking.
If some huge, fire-breathing beast was flying through the sky, we WOULD NOTICE IT. It would be ALL OVER American newspapers, at the least.

Lack of evidence does not prove anything, it's unlikely that dragons do exist, however considering the habit fictional dragons have of living deep within the earth or underwater (places we have yet to fully understand) theres still the possibility.
As for people believing in their existance for personal reasons without a shred of evidence for their existance, I believe that late at night when nobody is looking, my soft toy collection comes to life and protects me from evil spirits. ITS TRUE DAMMIT, and you can't prove otherwise because they're too smart and they're only alive when absolutely nobody is looking. nobody.

Fiction dictates a lot of things, mon ami.

Dam right we are, wait a minute, I havn't killed anything in over an hour (I think I ran over some ants in my car), I'm having withdrawl symptoms...
*sniff* *sniff*
I smell power, you have power DON'T YOU!!! GIVE IT TO ME NAOW
abridged version: way to stereotype an entire species dude
also, if the fire breathing, long living, armour plated, super intelligent flying lizards deserve to rule the world more, why don't they? and dont try and tell me we wiped them out or chased them into hiding, we have huge powerful weapons now, but we started of with sharpened sticks, moved to sharpened rocks, eventually sharpened shiny rocks, we were warlike for so many years without the kind of technology it would take to kill a dragon (if they are what most people say they are) why did dragons not establish ownership of the world when they had the chance
Nice satire.

Re: Dragons-why?
Not like that....Not every one has killed, but the human race is known for killing...lots of hmans have killed others in wars...in slauters...in crimes...and other reasons.

Animals will kill each other over food, territory, mating
we're just animals that have gotten organised, what separates us from animals is that some humans have the ability to ignore the instinct to kill the guy who slept with your wife
yes there are people who kill for no reason, if you ask me, the only explanation for this is a mental disorder, and with a species thats as populous as we are, these individuals are much more evident
I think the problem is, we havn't really stepped up from the animal kingdom yet, we're in a transition, as i said, killing is an instinct in a number of situations, the problem with humans now is, not everyone have evolved whatever it is that makes us realise that violence doesnt have to be the answer to everything
War is a decision made by a few individuals (the government) people dont usually join the defense force because they want to kill people, they are generally told they are defending their country (though usually theyre invading another)

Re: Dragons-why?
Also, dragons are most probably undetectable to radar. Their scales will not reflect radar signals, unlike metal. Organic tissue absorbs radar signals. Stealth planes also absorb radar signals, making them invisible to radar.

Dragons aren't territorial. Dragons don't exist.
Also, hey people kill other animals all the time. We don't give any warning or anything, that's just how humans roll.

Someone should invent a biomechanical supersonic stealth bomber. I'll call it the BSSB.
