Origonal Spyro or New Spyro?

You don't know the meaning of 'enemies everywhere' until you've played Drakengard. That game has far more enemies than T.L.o.S.
But what have you got against it having a serious storyline? Sure, it's serious, but the old series had nothing BUT crazy cartoonyness. This has a good plotline, with a few jokes (that are pretty funny at times) thrown in along the way. Personally, I love both series, but if I had to choose, I'd say T.L.o.S over the Originals.

New Spyro. I like him better. His voice, looks, personality, and etc. He is so much cuter! His little paws and body! The old Spyro had alot less graphics. But, I have to admit, I did too liked the old spyro games.

well them getting *bleep*ed is their problem, they take debating too serious. they dont like negative points.

THese days, i dont care what people think of my opinion anymore, i have the right to express them without people saying "yourbashingyourbashingyourshovingyouropinionsdownpeoplesthroats". I am not trying to be mean, i dont PM anyone raving about my opinion, i dont posts my TLOS hate on topics that dont encourage debate!
If DOTD is not good, i'm quitting Spyro for good, or atleast Spyro in the future.

True. But don't close yourself to Spyro in the future, because you never know what it might be like. I never thought Spyro would become the way is now, and I really liked the change. After DotD, they might change them to a more...Insomniac type game (no, I don't think Insomniac will take it back, they've said as much, and I really wouldn't like it if they did anyway.) If it were up to me, I'd make it rated 'M'. (Everybody probably knows that by now wink ) Anyways, the point is, give everything a decent chance before you say it's good or bad. If DotD doesn't suit you, that's no reason to assume the next games (if there are any) will be the same.

i'm sure that Spyro will no longer exist if DOTD is bad, and my hope will too. I try to be nice about the whole TLOS thing, i try to follow it and get involved, but inside me i dont, I just think that TLOS is rubbish and just dumped the old Series from head to toe, i know you've all heard that before, and i'm sorry if i sound repetative or like a broken record, i'm just too *bleep*ed off.
Do i think they might change to a insomniac like game? I dont think so, even though most fans of spyro are fans of the PS1 games, developers will base their games on TLOS, unless they know the PS1 games.
And as i said before, i had a hunch that Krome only played AHT before making TLOS, the developers that publish after DOTD may do the same with DOTD/TEN/ANB.

If the devs dropped the old series, it's probably because the old series no longer gave them enough muulah. The new series is, apparently. I still say that even if DotD doesn't appeal to you, that's no reason to think the following games won't either.

yeah, i know, but thats what people said when AHT came out...
Dont ask me why they Dropped the old Series, probably a few reasons.
1.the last 3 games:
AHT, SSL, Orange
got bad reviews, especially SSL and Orange, they knew that this will continue.
2.They were really running out of ideas, Ripto was getting reused over and over, Reviewers were complaining about how the games were too similar, they needed a big change.
...there are more reasons.

Well, they got their 'big change' alright. So they can't really complain about it. wink
Well, one of the reasons might be that they had already been planning to reboot the series one or two games before they did.

eh, maybe. but they obviously were trying to change the series in SSL, they just thought a complete reboot would flatten the story out. Eurocom, Amaze and VV should be ashamed of themselves for ruining the old Series. I know it would be hard to come up with new ideas to change the series, but if we look at mario, the general gameplay has stayed in tact but he is as different as ever.
What i would change to make the original's better:
1.Add in a ime trial mode
2.make the levels as big as ETD
3.Cut Load times just a little bit more
4.Make Powerups requirable by getting a number of gems
5.Make a combat-platformer game (similar to Ratchet and clank)
6.Make a better story
7.Alot more levels
8.add in a map like AHT or Spyro 2
9.Bring in a competative feature for minigames, co-op
10.Unlock "flying anywhere" after beating the game 100%

Well theres 10 things to improve, there are probably more.

I also found the gameplay alot more repetative in TLOS, not to mention TLOS was NO WAY as long as the originals. Originals also wasn't linear, but they managed to still keep the story in tact.
Face it everyone, they are gradually making Spyro become what it was before, but hesitating as they do not want to do that. The developers opnly changed the Series because they thought that "dragons needed a medievil Fantasy world" instead of what Spyro was meant to be (Random Goofyness).

I say to everyone who wants a game about a medievil dragon game, Spyro was NOT for you!

TheManiacOnWheels Speaks the truth.....You cant go down a hallway in a castle with out haveing 30 people swinging a sword at you.... You are constantly attacking...and useing magic. Drakengard is seriusly like fighting in a war but you are the onloy person who is killing things. Also when flying on Legnas back or Angelus's back....(Both are dragons) you cant fly any were with out haveing 5 battle ships and 20 assalt bullons after you either. Creature wise thast like 20 at once also....

And i made it a tie.... 28/28

Old Spyro for me, I loved those games but the new ones just don't appeal to me really... Old Spyro looked kinda cute but could also look serious... but the new one just gives me the feeling he'd bite me if i come to close

In my opinion, yea the series needed a reboot but not such a drastic one, they could have done well by just discarding the PS2 games and start where the third game ended off and instead of "making it diffrent" a more "back to the roots" approach would have been nice you know like get rid of some of the annoying side characters and make spyro himself less a jerk (yea he was quite one in AHT)

I would have loved to see a return of dragon realms like environments, especially the themed worlds with each fitting to the hub world but still unique on it's own

Anyway as said i prefered the old Spyro in both looks and game wise... well it'll live on in my heart and my game collection as long as the CDs will last

No, Ratchet, if they had continued to go in the direction AHT and SL were heading in, the Spyro series would have died out.
The previous developers had changed the characters far too much, reused bosses, and put in useless characters (flame and ember).
The reboot was necessary for many reasons.

The first spyro game I played was Year of the Dragon, and I loved it. But then I forgot about the series. Then one day I went to my friends house, played ANB, and I loved it! Then came TEN. I liked it more than YOTD!

Am I talking about AHT or SL, NO! As I said, AHT and SL are not examples of what Spyro would of kept on going, they are examples of developers and publishers not knowing what the heck to do with Spyro, they went in the Wrong direction, not the right. How about i ask YOU this, what if the developers kept on making better versions of YOTD every five years while having Spinoff games pop up a bit, I bet Spyro would of gone for years to come, hey they could of had a spinoff combat game about Spyro's Ancestors fighting against the Dark Master.

You make The original Spyro games sound like games that people who smoke grass play, Spyro was more than that, And many adults would rather play The Originals than TLOS, its a game for all ages. Happy Bright games, like Mario, Has been going on for years to come, people still love his games.
We had a discussion on this matter on the "fight between old and new" topic on Spyro chat, and the old Fans seemed to crack up some good points, look there.

Give me a good reason why the reboot was necesary.

Do you seriously think that the Spyro series would have survived if games like the originals had continued, with spinoff games here and there? as i've said, I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT AHT, ETD OR SSL, i dont LIKE those games!
