Lying.

OK, guys, seriously, you don't need to lie to me.

If I close a thread of yours, the first thing that usually happens if the member is rather new, he/she will pm me saying something on the lines of this:

----
Sorry, it was my little brother(or sister).
----

Seriously, you guys, you don't even need to PM me regarding the issue, unless you believe the thread should have remained open. Im not going to ban you, so either just leave it be or don't lie to me. Countless times I have had people tell me that their little 5 year old brother got on to the computer, onto spyroforum, wrote an elaborate message, clicked submit, and made a few replies.

Can you see where im coming from?

Re: Lying.

We all make mistakes, there's nothing wrong with it. While I wouldn't necessarily say that everyone who PM's you and says that is lying, I think it's a good idea to say that it's not a big deal or anything they should be worried about. They should be worried when we PM them giving them a warning over something, but otherwise, locking a thread is just for general forum maintenance.

Re: Lying.

You shouldn't fear the administration. We are all spyro fans.

I have been PMed outrageous stories about how a certain thread was born. They usually make no sense at all.

Re: Lying.

Ya, most are from yours truely, and the admins arnt bad guys [ok, they are but their not unresionalbe guys] and their not going to ban you for a stupid thing you [or your little sister/brother] said the first time it happens [trust me on that one :*bleep*in: ]

[and you should fear administration the same way you fear your princeapl... or your boss, only if you did something stupid...so I live in constant fear  (:) ]

Re: Lying.

Haha, sounds like the usual excuse. I've heard many outrageous excuses myself. For instance: "Sorry! My 2 year old nephew sent that. Not me!"
...
Honestly, I've never met a 2 year old who could type w/ proper punctuation, proper grammar, and correct spelling.. But ok.
Shouldn't be bad, especially if it's your first time messing up. No one's perfect. Now if you keep messing up, then.. I don't know. Amnesia?
Also, why be scared or ashamed? It's not like the person you're talking to over the computer is going to hunt you down. They probably don't know you at all. Just make it up w/ some good personality. Or.. Try to.
Mk, just had to throw in my 2-bits. big_smile

Re: Lying.

Sounds reasonable to me, SR. I'm rather appalled that anyone would lie to you about this sort of thing. If a thread gets closed, it's okay, not the end of the world or anything. Just try not to make the same mistakes again.

Re: Lying.

I've got like three younger brothers. But I live alone, and they nearly never visit me, so that exuse wouldn't work for me. If I want to spam, I'll just make a silly account and do it (No one would know it was me )

Here, it is against the rules to have more than one account.

Re: Lying.

That's what sucks about not being a mod anymore. I never knew regular users couldn't delete their own posts.

Re: Lying.

I've never lied about why I made a thread. But I have had a few encounters with admins that's made me positive there are very few that like me.
If I've ever made a thread in the wrong area or asked a question that didn't exactly apply to the topic (More often than not because it seemed like the most appropriate place for me to put it) I've been replied to by them asking me if I can read or calling me the most ignorant person they've ever met.
I'm not saying that people should continue lying or making up elaborate excuses. I'm just stating that if they've ever been to forums that I have and made a mistake, they probably wouldn't want to face an angry admin head on, again, without trying to find something that might cushion the blow.
I know Spyrorocks isn't that way. (at least I think he isn't) But how would someone who's never met him know?

Re: Lying.

Well, mayhaps this topic will be a good educational tool to those who have their topics locked in the future, and they won't take it personally.
