What do you think about watching sports?
Do you guys watch any sports? If so, what's your favorite team, and why?
I've never been a sports watching person so this has never really made sense to me. I've been thinking about it more recently because I live in Illinois and apparently the Cubs are doing really well for the first time in like 100 years or something, and people are really excited about it. So how do people decide to be fans of a sports team? What makes one team different than all the other teams out there (especially if that team loses all the time and/or it's not the local team where you live)?

Re: What do you think about watching sports?
I'm not a sports fan, so I don't know much about it. Usually, czechs are all crazy into hockey and they are fans of their local teams only as far as I know I remember my schoolmates at high school discuss some football too, all kind of teams and players and stuff, they seem to understand the tactics too.

Re: What do you think about watching sports?
I don't watch a lot of sports either since I don't have much of a vested interest or any ties to specific teams other than Geography. Even with the sports I like, I would rather just play than watch (like soccer and tennis). I do watch the Vikings for football but only because it's something to do every Sunday, and a good conversation starter. I know a lot of people make fantasy sports teams which gets them more invested since there's competition and money on the line if you pick the right players.
The closest thing to a 'sport' that I consistently watch is Smash Bros Melee tournaments. I find them a lot more engaging because you get to know the personalities of the players through their livestreams and events, rather than just supporting a large team with a bunch of very rich (and oftentimes stuck-up and entitled) people
I didn't know the World Series was even approaching until I heard all the hype about the Cubs on the radio and internet, lol

I watch football mainly and that's it.
I have changed my username from Justin Long Fanatic to EricChristianOlsenFanatic, so Justin Long Fanatic is my old name on this site, and EricChristianOlsenFanatic is my new one.

Re: What do you think about watching sports?
i think sports are basically like any other TV show i don't watch - i would probably be more interested if i sat down and learned about the "characters" and the "storyline" (will this team come back from their losing streak? will that team win the Superbowl?) but i'm not really interested in finding new shows to watch right now, so i'm pretty indifferent to sports.
edit: though i probably wouldn't like most sports anyway - they're so. boring. and slow. baseball just drags on forever. [American] football, they stop the clock after everything. a player takes a breath and they have to stop the clock for two minutes. the only sport i could probably get into is hockey.

Dude, I was gonna answer but then I realized my answer would be pretty much yours 36, right down to hockey being the sport I'd be most willing to give a chance.

Nothing besides LoL LCS really. And I like the SKT T1 team (South Korean Telecom T1)

Never ask what I'd do for a klondike bar. No one wants to go down that road.

Basketball and Soccer but I don't watch them to much usually just when the Playoffs or the Fifa World Cup are happening.

Re: What do you think about watching sports?
I don't get why younger people watch sports, especially soccer when they can go outside and play it themselves. Same as gameplay videos and such.

Re: What do you think about watching sports?
Some kids just probably enjoy watching and gaming instead of actually playing the sport itself I guess.

Also professionals are way better than the kids ever (most likely) will be so there's more excitement

Re: What do you think about watching sports?
I tried playing soccer in middle school and was terrible at it because I couldn't run without getting out of breath. I bet it would be fun now that I'm more in shape.
I did play softball, but I guess I wasn't very good at that either, haha. Always near last in the batting order and stuck in the outfield.
I wasn't very athletic.

Re: What do you think about watching sports?
I don't particularly support any team in any sport, yet I used to watch some now and then. Now it's just the extremely occasional soccer match or something like that. But it's more fun to play it myself; I played soccer a lot when I was younger, but haven't had much opportunity in recent years.

Re: What do you think about watching sports?
I was actually in a volleyball team last year through the YMCA. I was pretty bad, especially at serving. There were a couple guys on the team who took it waaaaay too seriously and kept getting mad when we lost, which made it a lot less fun.
I remembered a sport I was actually decent at: badminton! In high school gym class my friend and I were one of the best teams.
I guess I was okay at tennis, but Paranoia still beat me more often than not.

If I was in better shape and had the training and stamina for it I'd play basketball always did enjoy it but I'll just stick to watching.
