How to draw wings?
Do you guys like drawing wings. I never tried it because i never thought about it. But its not too hard if one knows how it functions. Basically the upper part is where its bone structure is at. And the feathers just kinda sticks out from that. Expanding out in all directions.
Its either way interesting. Dragon wings seem to emulate more batwings though if i were to compare it to something. Its either way nice ^^

Re: How to draw wings?
I guess I've been drawing dragon wings wrong. I hardly ever draw those two smaller sets of metacarpals/phalanges. Should be obvious that they're needed though if think about how similar a bat wing is to a human hand.

I've tried drawing wings before, but I'm not that good lol.
I have changed my username from Justin Long Fanatic to EricChristianOlsenFanatic, so Justin Long Fanatic is my old name on this site, and EricChristianOlsenFanatic is my new one.

This is how I draw wings. They're not really anatomically correct, but I suppose they do what they're suppose to.

Right I think it depends on what you are drawing. These would be good for a more cartoony look ... sadly the example I wanted to show was hidden by the artist. So, here are other examples:
The 2nd and 3rd links are great examples. Not all wings have the joints either, I see artists who make the wing "fingers" a constant curved line without joints. The 3rd example is nice because it shows wing membranes can also be drawn as semi-transparent. And yea these are all dragons because that's pretty much 70% of the art I look at. ![]()
