Digit ratio
I've read some articles about the digit ratio. You can compute it by dividing the length of your index finger with the length of your ring finger. The length of the finger is measured from the middle of the bottom crease to the top of the finger (not the nail!) (picture).
There is a theory that the amount of testosterone you were exposed in the womb affects the digit ratio and that people with lower ratio tends to be more athletic.
I measured it a coupple of times and always got the same length o.O so my digit ratio is 1.

Re: Digit ratio
thetruefan, please don't post if you have nothing to contribute.
I found out about this recently, but what I heard was women tend to have a longer index finger than ring finger, and men are the opposite. This graph shows that most people are actually below one.
Mine is around 0.95. I wish that came with extra athleticism. ![]()

Re: Digit ratio
Looks like mine is around 0.95 as well
Although it varies a bit with how I measure it.
I saw a tv show about this a few years ago, focusing on athletics.

Yeah, a coupple of sites tells that women have longer index finger, but this site and wikipedia says they have the the digit ratio equal or a bit smaller than 1... When I look up something on the internet, I always wonder which source is right. For example my grandmother have problems with "body acidification" (idk if it is said like that in english), so we tried to look up what she can eat and every site told us something differend and they were contradicting each other.

I remember seeing one too a long time ago, idk if it was the same you watched. I remember a guy there who guessed who is going to win the race by their fingers length.
OOT: also, I can't see the image in your signature, isn't it broken? ![]()

Re: Digit ratio
Those normal curves are bringing me back to my high school stats class, lol. Pretty good way to visualize it though.
I got around 0.9. I suppose I'm pretty athletic too, if I have the motivation of course.

Re: Digit ratio
Maybe I missed it, but are you supposed to use the metric system (centimeters) or the customary system (inches) to measure your fingers?

Re: Digit ratio
As long as you use the same system for both fingers, the ratio will come out the same either way.

Re: Digit ratio
Oh okay. I just wanted to make sure it'd be correct.
I got 1.
