Horse Riding

I don't know if anyone here enjoys riding horses, but feel free to discuss them anyways. Or, let this topic drop to the bottom of the forum forever. You decide.

I got back from staying at a stable for a week yesterday. That got me thinking: there might be other people on here that enjoy riding horses as well.

At the stable, I rode this cremello gelding named Vanilla. He was probably the least energetic horse I've ever rode. In fact, I know he was. Many of the horses had to be lunged before being ridden in the morning, because that would reduce the chance of them bucking. Vanilla... he was already reluctant to move. I don't want to imagine him being lunged.

Once Vanilla was up and moving, he continued moving. He was just so incredibly hard to make walk from being still. I literally had to hit him with the reins to make him begin to walk a few times.

So... what's your experiences with horses?

Re: Horse Riding

I like horses and have enjoyed riding a few times, although I'm not very good. I don't like when the horse starts going faster than a walk. tongue

I went to a horse camp when I was a lot younger, but it was so long ago I barely remember anything about it. In college I chose horsemanship for one of my two required gym classes, and that was pretty fun. It also somehow lead to one of my professors thinking I'm obsessed with horses and making fun of me about it for a while, lol.

Re: Horse Riding

I only rode one when I was a kid. I can't remember it but from the picture. I was bawling like a 2 year old. The horse was really just calm about the entire thing it seemed. I would love to ride one. I love horses but I don't think I would be able to do the jumping over things thing. But maybe one day I can ride and befriend a horse at a stable or something. Maybe one day.

I once rode this mare named Kacie. She... whenever you went faster than a trot, she'd start to bolt and often end up crashing into the sides of the arena. It was terrifying. I didn't want to trot on a horse again for a very long time.

But Vanilla was fine at trotting.

Re: Horse Riding

I'm not really sure if I rode a horse, but I remember visiting some places with my dad where we watched and fondled them. Our town is known for having good horses, we also sometimes have horse races here.
Riding a horse could be a great experience I believe :3 but I would be scared of falling down a lot.

Re: Horse Riding

Yeah, I've ridden a horse maybe last year. But I'm a skinny tall guy so it feels really awkward being on a horse with a wide belly.

Re: Horse Riding

It is fun indeed. People take good care of them and their tame. Once you get the hang of it horseback riding is fun.
