Are komodo dragons related to snakes
Saw an documentary about it, it has a venomous bite and can use that to its own advantage to take down a prey. Never seen reptiles like that one ![]()

No. Komodos have legs, mainly.

Re: Are komodo dragons related to snakes
But snakes had legs once, didn't they?
I don't think they're closely related, though, as there even are venomous mammals.

Re: Are komodo dragons related to snakes
Don't think so. They inject a lethal dose of poison when they bite which can result in death within minutes. But I don't see any other similarities besides that and that their reptiles.

Re: Are komodo dragons related to snakes
Actually Komodo Dragons don't have venom. They are more related to monitor lizards, just lizards in general. Their bite is actually has strong bacteria that can kill (probably worse than being bit by a human, since our bacteria is pretty bad too). There's only 2 poisonous lizards, Gila Monster and the Mexican beaded lizard. I have a book that doesn't say anything about Komodos having venom. So it's possible that the book I read about lizards could be out of date since it's eyes on Nature.

Oh okay. In that case, They do have venom, but they would be more closely related to monitor lizards, Gila monsters, and Mexican beaded lizards.
