Comics, Manga and related stuff

So anyone here read comics? I do :-P

Currently reading the 3rd Star Wars legacy book :-D about Cade Skywalker

Witch begs a Star wars question, what will happen to the extended universe now? Is it just going to be wiped out? Are they keeping parts in and kicking parks out? Heck, Mara Jade Skywalker Luke's wife? Will we get a mention of her?

As for my other comic book collections, I have the Flash (Wally west and wally west ONLY) a few other super hero comics, like Batman Arkham Asylum living hell :-p

I hear they're ignoring the EU entirely and coming up with their own plot.

I don't read too many comics really. I like the comics that continue the story of Avatar (the Aang kind, not the Na'vii kind), the Scott Pilgrim series, the Firefly comics, and I have a couple manga, but that's pretty much it. I don't care so much for the comic medium because it is such an expensive hobby. It costs the same to buy a single comic or manga, which will last me five minutes, as a novel, which will last me a week to a month. Not to mention comics series go on and on, so that's just more and more money spent.

However! Comics like The Watchmen as Latias fan mentioned I'm all for, since you only need to buy one or two and you've got the entire story

Re: Comics, Manga and related stuff

Been reading through Guardians of the Galaxy comics(the 08 reboot) since that's what the movie is going to be about. It's surprisingly good stuff.

Re: Comics, Manga and related stuff

I've read some of the Naruto manga from the past it was good. Loved the series ever since. Superman was good.

Re: Comics, Manga and related stuff

I used to be pretty into manga, particularly one series that my friend introduced me to which I won't name because I'm embarrassed to have liked it. And no, it wasn't Naruto or anything like that. tongue But yeah, I'm glad I'm not trying to collect any series anymore because they're like $10 per book, and some of those series go on forever.

I kind of want to read a few of the Buffy universe comics, but they get really weird, even by that show's standards.

Re: Comics, Manga and related stuff

It was...

dun dun duuuun....

Love Hina.

I didn't realize at the time the extent of how suggestive some of it was, and for that reason didn't realize who was mainly reading it, and that they probably weren't reading it for the love story like I was. To be fair, it was my friend, a girl, who told me to read it, so I just never thought of it like that. D:

I'm just glad I never tried watching the anime because apparently it's super trashy and has no redeeming qualities.

Re: Comics, Manga and related stuff

A manga that looks super girly at first glance but actually tells a really good story is Chobits. The anime based on it is even better, IMO.
