Welcome to Night Vale
Twice-monthly community updates for the small desert town of Night Vale, featuring local weather, news, announcements from the Sheriff's Secret Police, mysterious lights in the night sky, dark hooded figures with unknowable powers, and cultural events. Turn on your radios and hide. Welcome to Night Vale.
So who all listens to this podcast because it is AMAZING. It's fictional, but it's just like listening to a radio show, except it's broadcasted from an unknown town where the supernatural is treated as simply natural. A new dog park where humans and dogs are not allowed? Oh well. Old woman Josie lives with angels? Whatever. The new candidate for the mayoral election is a literal five-headed dragon? Okay but what are his political views?
Yeah, the show has a really surreal quality about it but it's fascinating to listen to. The radio show host, Cecil, has the most enchanting voice I've ever heard.
If you know of this show, let's discuss it.
If not... here ya go friend: http://podbay.fm/show/536258179 Episodes are listed beginning with the most recent, so you need to scroll down to find the Pilot. It looks like a lot of episodes to catch up on, but each are twenty minutes long and you only need to turn it on as background noise to listen to, there's nothing to actually watch. And once you get into it I'm sure you'll be eagerly clicking to the next episodes.
Yeah I just really want to talk about this show though, it is soo good.

Great, I hope you like it. It can be pretty weird at first, but before long you get used to all the crazy happenings in Night Vale.
before you know it Cecil is telling you about a giant cloud thing that hurls dead animals at people and you're not even remotely concerned.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale
It's almost Christmas. Shouldn't someone listen to this during Halloween?

I think it's appropriate for any time of the year really. Especially since the events of the episodes usually do end up matching to the time of year it was released.
Nothing is really 'spooky', just surreal.
And I'm sure that when the next episode comes out in January there will be talk of what happened during Christmas. And the WTNV Twitter page has been making plenty of Christmas references too. Many of which are disturbing but that's kinda the point.
