EA Shutting down The Sims Social and Simcity Social
EA has been known to shut down servers for games, and now Simcity Social and The Sims Social shares the same fate.
On June 14th 2013 the servers will close forever for both titles.
This is not the first SIM series title to share this fate. 3 others have as well:
The Sims Online, The Sims Bustin Out Online and My Sims Online.

Fine with me. Also, servers cost money, and lots of servers really add up in
cost. So shutting down servers for old games saves a lot of money. And the
hardware for the server boxes costs a lot too. If I was in the gaming industry,
I'd probably do the same thing.

I've never played those games, but I have been a part of an online game where the servers were shut down. It's disappointing, but I agree with Swaffy that you can't expect them to stay up forever.

Not really a fan of the franchise myself. But it's probably for the best.
