He was acting very unprofessionally, enough that Microsoft had to actually issue an apology for what he said. If he's going to lose his job it should be for giving the company a bad image.

And yeah, the idea of PC games always requiring an internet connection doesn't bother me as much as this, kind of a weird contradiction I guess.

What? I'm reminding you of a rule, not trying to have an argument. Would you rather me just delete useless posts without any warning?

Well i guess a perk of cousoul gaming was it was a alternative for if the internet did go down, there was the fallback option.

Re: Microsoft tells us to shove it, and says xbox 3 will require always on DRM

the fact that they always do this nowadays doesn't make it good. i always sort of enjoyed the idea that i could play video games offline, single-player, not connected to anything. there was something wonderful, yet strangely not very addictive, about that escapism, and the magic of that is removed in always-on. maybe i don't want to be "always connected" to the world, huh?! maybe the world bugged me that day, and i didn't feel like dealing with the people in it for a while! ah well. just throwing thoughts out there.

i dunno play some old consoles is the new answer..

my big problem with DMR is what about when the console is outdated and they shut off the servers? your games will be useless..

Remember how, you love spyro?

What would of happened if, say, the PS1 was always online back then and required it, but say now, the server is offline for PS1.
You would never play those classics again.

Same applies for if there is an awesome 720 exclusive that you adore, but in 10 or so years XBL for 720 is shut down, you will never play that gem again.

This is a problem.

Re: Microsoft tells us to shove it, and says xbox 3 will require always on DRM

I have done the same, but Xbox has an online status feature, Appear Offline,
and you basically make yourself "disappear" as long as the setting is active.
So you can still have Internet and isolate youself like that without having to
turn off the Internet connection. Mujaffa's point was a strong one, though. On
the other hand, Xbox is usually good with backwards compatibility.

I just think some of you are exaggerating the idea when it's really not as bad
as you may think. Today's world is getting to the point where Internet
connections are always on regardless of it being forced always-on.

But what about when it goes down? Do i have to go back to my ps3 and stop playing my new games? Yes, and that sucks.

Thats almost completely different from the point. Sure, you can go invisible, but you still are online on 720. Like i said, if your internet goes down, or you have no internet, NO game will play on 720. This is a form of aggressive DRM.

Ha, you don't know SR very well.

Anywho, I personally would be fine with my internet always needing to be on, but that doesn't make this much better to me. It's still unfortunate for those who have little or no access to a decent ISP but still want to do a little gaming. Sure they could get a PS4 but what if the games they really want are microsoft exclusives?
