How long do dragons live in Spyro?
I know it's kind of a random topic, but I've always wondered that. I know in the first Spyro the one old dragon mentions something about there being peace for a dragon's age. Does that mean anything significant? What is your guys' take on it?

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
a lot of people seem to think that dragons live for these amazingly long periods of time. thousands, or millions of years. Spyro was a kind-of traditional dragon, going after treasure and stuff, but also broke a few conventions by, for example saving the world instead of eating it and making loud noises at people, as mythology would suggest, so it could go either way.
they never seem to indicate years that go by between things. even in TLOS if you went that way, Spyro was born, and then in the next scene he was a kid already, but they don't tell you how much time passed. how much older are the elderly dragons with beards (what) in the originals than the young ones with deep voices? they never mention that.
i'll just guess they live for a couple million, like a lot of people seem to think.

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
LOL...well that doesn't give me much. I suppose I'd get the same type of answers if I asked what dragons eat and how they get their food. The spyroverse really leaves a lot of questions open doesn't it?

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
Spyro's teeth seem to mostly be jagged, but in some images i see some flat ones, so i'm guessing the dragons are omnivores. a few times the camera angle messed up and i saw the inside of Spyro's mouth (floating above the Scorch portal, if you're curious), maybe that can help. i don't remember his teeth, but i remember that they actually took the time to design a mouth for him. which is odd, but so is researching Spyro's teeth.
how they get their food... uh, they go after other creatures, that when you flame them, instead of butterflies they turn into leaves and steaks.
yeah, these games did leave a lot open to interpretation with the finer details. maybe they don't eat at all. they live off of the magic in the air. now that i think about it, YOTD did seem to allude to something kind of like that.

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
It's pretty hard to glean fine details like that from the Spyro games because the world was never meant to be that detailed, it's just a cute Dragon in a magical world what more do you want?

:-P I know. I know. It's just hard to write fanfiction sometimes when you can't figure these things out. XD

"Okay, Spyro, time for your dental appointment."
*AAAAHHHHH!*
I guess one good thing about writing a fanfiction is that you have the ability to
create your own ideas. Since we really don't know the lifespan of a dragon
(though animals before the Great Flood lived to be 800 to 900 years, and also
humans due to the low amount of sun radiation) you can make up your own.

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
I've seen various-abet fictional-sources stating that they live anywhere from 200 to 1,000 years. For my own fanfic i attempt to feel in the details not present in the games by looking at these kinds of source material. My dragons are omnivores, but that is meant only to make the presence of large dragon-populated cities seem more practical. I'm sure that once your get a sizable population of them, hunting alone becomes inpractical.
i am Cynder, Queen of all dragons...
Don't mess with me...maybe i WON'T eat you.

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
Wow there is a lot more on here than the last time I looked at this post. I guess I imagine the Dragons of Spyro being somewhat omnivorous with a preference towards meat. Like you all said though it's hard to tell.

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
Hello everybody.
Read the posts on 'How long do dragons live'.
I recall Ignitus, mentioning one thousand years. (The Legend of Spyro: internet movie)
The passage went: "Every thousand years a purple dragon is born."
With this in mind, Ignitus is probably near or at this age. Dragons live about one thousand 'human years'.

I think it depends on their type.

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
The lifespan of dragons in games and fiction depend entirely on their creators. It's a shame the world-building for the Spyro games did not go more in-depth. But I guess the finer details are left for us (the audience) to make up our own minds on. Fair enough, I say. And if I was to take a guess at how long dragons can live in the Spyro universe, I'd put it between 900 - 1200 years old, depending on the elemental type, and possibly gender.

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
I was thinking that, on average, their age acceleration is ten times slower than ours, and that they can live to be around ten thousand years.

Re: How long do dragons live in Spyro?
I think I know only one thing-
Elves are kind of fairies, and they live like 300+ years.
So fairy dragons live something like that too.
