From what I can see, it's going to be primarily a single player RPG with just an MMO-esque world. Not bad, especially since the ones playing it will most likely be actual RPG players.

I came to Dragon Quest a bit late (first one for me was 9), but I don't think it is completely dead yet.

What's with people liking giant swords? Seriously, those things gotta be 8 - 10
feet long weighing almost 25 pounds. I'd rather carry a big rock around with me.

No. It's going to be completely online. And you'll have to pay usage fees for it. O yea and it's for the Wii. Isn't the Wii infamous for it's terrible online with friend codes and such?

I don't even like the Wii in general. I really hate the idea of Motion Controls. How can i get immersed in a game if I'm constantly movie in real life. The only good games I've played on it were No More Heroes(Which doesn't really count since they recently made a PS3 port) and No More Heroes 2(Which also doesn't count because they made it multiplatform)
