Hello...anyone?

Stormy, I was wondering if you could contact SR the next time you ever get a glimpse of him and see if he can pass on his website to you (or to someone else in trust) so he can technically be removed from the burden of this site, since he's doing other things. I don't know if you're willing to pay for the maintenance of this site or whatnot, but instead of lacking the forum privileges to do more things, would it be possible to convince SR to have you or someone else take over the site?

I'd be more than willing to; in fact RDX and I have talked before about both of us buying it from him. He's tried asking, but SR apparently wants to keep the site for some unknown reason and won't give admin privileges to anyone except Aristeo.

guys, last time SP was on he told me some things, been meaning to shear em.

He said basicly site been down due to server updates and not to worrie he will never just shut the site down without leaving it in capabel hands.

But if that's true, that was nice of him to warn his users about the downtime beforehand. -__-

And Swaffy, Aristeo is the admin of the IRC network that spyrochat is on, like it says in the first post.

I feel like this server could go down at any time and no one would even notice.

Maybe a community-driven board could be better? I don't want to leave SpyroForum, but I don't want to randomly lose communications to everyone here forever.

We need a go-to place. A backup meeting location. So that if the world begins
to end, we can head on over to our backup shelter where we can stay in
communication. SpyroChat will be up, but it is IM, not a forum with a history.

Let's give it a couple of weeks before we actually try to do something. I'm optimistic that that is the last major downtime, but if it persists we can decide on looking at a community board.

How long has this been going on now, months? I don't see it stopping any time soon, so it's probably best to at least identify and discuss alternative board potentials now. Better safe than sorry, and all that.

Alright, guys, since most of you seem to want it I've set up a backup forum at http://sfbackup.forumer.com. Why forumer? It was the first result on Google for "free forum phpbb" and seemed easy enough to remember.

Yeah, it was pretty late last night (actually it was 5 in the morning) when I set this up, so I didn't have time to really look at things. I'll delete those example topics. tongue

Also, I don't know what kind of ads this host uses since I block them all, but if you see any obnoxious ones let me know and I can try a different host.

Since this is a backup of Spyroforum, if you're not a mod here, you're not going to be there. tongue (In the unlikely event that you are a mod and you want to register, please use an IP you've posted with on SF so I can recognize you and give you status.) I'm not going to do anything too dramatically different with this backup site unless we end up having to replace Spyroforum completely.

Edit: ...Uh, why am I getting SQL errors from trying to change the section title and description when I can't even access the database? WTF?
