The Legend of Spyro’s Siblings Crossover: Voyage for the Fire Keeper

Hey guys! As promised, I am back to write my crossover fic of TLOSS. As of now I have the prologue ready for viewer's eyes. For a description of this story, see TLOSS Dusk and Shinneye, the final post. I will be updating in month intervals,  So, without further ado, here's to my cross over fix! Enjoy~

Prologue: The Withering Flame
Wind whistled through the sky, and raindrops splattered into the sea below the three flying guardians. In the lead was the green earth guardian, Terrador.

"Hold on, guardians!" His voice yelled above the leering wind of the storm. He blinked the water out of his eyes and attempted a landing down on the sandy beach below. The two following landed by his side, stumbling a bit from the wind. In front of them of the tiny island was a large rock, a gaping hole in it's center. The group trotted into the cavern, taking shelter in the darkness.

"I ask, Terrador, is this truly necessary?" The ice guardian, Cyril, queered, shaking his wings dry.

"Yes, I find this to be positively and irritably excessive and agonizing." Volteer, the lightning guardian, added.

"All of us here know it is." Terrador replied gruffly. "The Chronicler said he wanted to see us in flesh, not through the looking pool. He wanted us to come to the Celestial Caves."

" 'The Chronicler' ?" Cyril asked, giving him a quizzical look.

"He wishes us to call him by his proper name." Terrador explained. "He is no longer Ignitus. We all have to accept that."

"Of course." Cyril snorted. "Well, so be it. Care to lead?" Terrador nodded, walking into the open black until he vanished from sight. The other two followed closely. They stopped when they arrived at a large door.

"So you arrived." A voice, like the other's but with an ominous depth, asked.

"Indeed." Terrador spoke for them. "You wished to see us?"

"Yes. Thank you for braving the storm on my behalf. Come in, get warm. We have much to talk about." The door creaked open, revealing a circular room. All around it's circumference were shelves filled with books. In the center of the room is what appeared to be a giant hourglass.
"Welcome." A dragon paced out from behind the hourglass, his scales aglow with a blue aura. The guardians dipped their heads in a bow.
"Lift your heads, guardians of earth, ice, and lightning." The Chronicler addressed them, and they lifted their heads.
"Do sit." He gestured, sitting on his own haunches. The others obliged.
"Let's get straight to the matter." As he spoke, an incredibly thick and leathered-bound book hovered up from the shelf and over to the center of their circle formation, resting between them. The cover had a diamond embroidered on it, with four different glowing stones on each point.

"This book here is the Book of Guardians. It has all the recorded information of every guardian to have walked this realm." The pages flipped through, showing different dragons on each with a red, green, blue, or yellow background.

"Typically a guardian is selected through a series of elections, as new guardians tend to be elected around the same time. I think you all remember this, as I do. In the special and hidden region of Elemera, where dragons of all regions are called to vote. But this process was lengthy-often it lasted many months." The book flipped backward to a green page, with a dragon sketched that looked identical to Terrador. It turned itself, showing a blue page with Cyril. Then a yellow page with Volteer. Finally, it turned to a red page. But this page was blank, with no sketch or text at all. Terrador realized it was the only page of the entire book without a picture or writing, and also noticed the page to be slightly withered compared to the rest.

"Currently, there is no holder of fire. Thus, the realm is experiencing an imbalance. Should the imbalance remain, the fire element will wither away and our world will be flung into chaos."

"And what do you want us to do?" Terrador asked cautiously, deciding not to criticize him on his choice of leaving the guardians.

"Only occasionally, a single guardian will move on from their duties. When this happens it is a special case. Elemera is once again brought from it's mysterious location, but instead a 10 day voting trial takes place. At the night of the 10th day, the new guardian must be chosen or the element of fire will die out. This trial must happen immediately; I want all of you to send out the message to every dragon in every area about the trial. Every fire dragon must participate." The book closed itself and hovered back to it's shelf.

"We will prepare right away." Terrador announced, getting up onto all four paws.

"I wish you all luck." The Chronicler told them. He turned his head to look beyond them. "Take caution; Elemera is a strange realm. Once you enter it you cannot leave until the trial is over. Also, beyond the borders of the valley you are staying in are uncharted territories, and you must discourage everyone from venturing beyond. Another thing…" His eyes looked at the hourglass.

"Yes?" Terrador prompted. The Chronicler paused for a moment, then shook his head.

"I have a few concerns. However, I believe it's best not to voice them for now. Be brave and strong. Always remember you are guardians for a reason; and if necessary, demonstrate your power." The three nodded, and prepared to leave. First Cyril, then Volteer left the room without a word. Terrador was the last to go. He stopped walking halfway through the door and turned back his head, looking the Chronicler in this eyes.

"We will find a guardian." He assured with the dip of his head. "I promise to do everything in my power to ensure your seat is filled, old friend. I won't let the fire die."
……….
So there's the prologue! Chap 1 should be up in July, maybe sooner if I find the time to finish. I'm really looking forward to writing this story, as it is probably going to be one of my favorites to write. Hope you all enjoyed, and look forward to chap 1!

Re: The Legend of Spyro’s Siblings Crossover: Voyage for the Fire Keeper

Alright, a bit late, but here is chapter 1! The official story will now begin. Enjoy!

Chapter 1: The Blood of Two
…A tiny messenger phoenix glided through the smoky air, carrying an envelope in its beak. Pillars of thick steam spiraled into the air in thin streams all around the Burned Lands. Despite the name, the lands themselves were anything but empty. All through the hostile, mountainless terrain, different races of dragons went about their daily routine; lava dragons, coal dragons, steam dragons, and generally breeds that could withstand heat. These dragons, that had gone into hiding during Malefor’s reign, had since slowly began to re-venture out of their caverns. The phoenix swooped down in front of a certain cavern, just as a dragoness walked out.

“Oh, we have mail!” She exclaimed, trotting over to the phoenix. She removed the envelope from its beak, and it flew off into the murky horizon. She stared at the neat letter clasped between her claws. In cursive writing, the names of two dragons were written; “Inferno & Pyre”. Her and her twin sister. Born from the same egg, Inferno and Pyre were as close as could be. Their scales were a matching milky white, lightly dusted with a charcoal black on the tips. Their eyes were a matching pink hue in color; the only way to truly distinguish them was their crests, with Inferno’s being a deep crimson and Pyre’s being a light magenta. They were also the only purebred fire dragons in the Burned Lands, meaning they could master most all of the different levels of fire magic.

“Um…Fern?” A timid voice queered, as a matching dragoness peered out from her cave.

“Pyre, we got a letter!” Fern told her, happily making her way to her sister.

“A letter…? From who?” She asked, curiously examining the envelope.

“Let’s open it and find out!” Fern announced eagerly, slicing the top open with a claw. She unfolded the clear white paper, cleared her throat, and began reading:

Greetings, holders of the fire element,
You have been invited to participate in the Guardian Elections for the next fire guardian. These elections will be held in Elemera, a sacred realm accessed by the blue stone attached to this message. You will be in this realm a total of ten nights. You will all be staying at the Elemera Inn and Resort, a large estate with excellent security. Please keep in mind that upon entering Elemera, you will not be able to leave until the elections have concluded. We look forward to your participation, and wish you all luck.
-The Elemental Guardians

Fern flipped over the letter to see a tiny clear stone, no wider than a dragon’s claw, stuck to the back with directions on using it.

“This is SO awesome!” Fern cheered, lashing her tail happily. Pyre just stared at the letter.

“They want us to be guardians?” Pyre asked in awe.

“Well, they invited us, right?” Fern told her, stopping her celebration and examining the stone. “Ooh, I can’t wait for this! I’m gonna start a campaign for myself!”

“But Fern…we’re running against a bunch of others, so no one might even like us.” Pyre muttered.

“Well, they will like me, I bet!” Fern said with a vigorous nod. She crouched down on all fours and blew smoke from her nostrils. “Well, they’d better.” She joked playfully.

“Heh, yeah…” Pyre agreed, giving her sister a smile. “But let’s wait and see our competition before getting excited, ok?”

“Oh, fair enough.” Fern sighed, rising from her crouch. “Anyway, I suppose we should get our stuff together and let our friends know.” The twins had been born in the Burned Lands, although they were told their egg had been brought there from a far off land. They lived with the other dragons their age, and always stuck together in everything they did.

“Well, we wish you guys the best of luck!” A red-scaled lava dragon told them after they announced the news.

“Thanks!” Fern told him, nodding cheerfully. She gave the lava dragon a wink. “Vote for me, kay?”

“We’ll see, Fern.” He told the dragoness, returning the smile.

“Thank you…”Pyre replied after the little conversation. “We will see you in Elemera.”

“I suppose we should go get our stuff and leave.” Fern said. “We only have ten nights. C’mon, Pyre.”

“Actually, before you guys head off, I’d like your help, if you don’t mind.” An older, dark grey coal dragon spoke up. In her paws was a large metal burner. She looked hopefully to Fern. “Inferno, do you think you could light my burner before you leave? It’s always such a pain trying to light them with the sparks us coal dragons can conjure.”

“Sure thing!” Fern scampered over to the burner. She took a breath, and blew. Nothing came out.

“H-huh?” Fern squeaked, surprised when no fire left her mouth. She took another breath and blew harder this time; still nothing.

“Um, I can try, if you want.” Pyre offered. Fern backed up, letting her sister take a breath and blow. Not a single flame was conjured. “That’s weird…” Pyre murmured.

“Where’d our fire go???” Fern asked aloud, completely puzzled.

“I’m sorry about this.” The coal dragon told them. “I suppose I should let you go, anyway.”

“Yeah…thanks.” Fern told her, still considering her new problem.

“Maybe the other fire dragons will know once we get there?” Pyre suggested.

“I hope.” Fern breathed. They gave a final goodbye to their friends and flew back to their cavern to prepare for the journey. Once they were completely packed, they went outside, Fern holding the stone.
“Well, we’re off.” Fern announced, clasping the stone tightly. “To leave, the directions on the back said that we have to hold the stone so we can see the sky through it while linking tails.” They obliged, and Fern slowly raised up the stone. A warm light engulfed the twins, as they were spirited off into the strange new realm. As the last of her conscience began to fade in the mellow light, a surge of nervous excitement pulsed through Fern. She would be leaving home for the first time in her life, and wasn’t really sure what to expect in the coming days. But a part of her knew there would be no use in fretting over what may be to come, or her loss of fire-breathing power; her cheerfully nature told her better. So Fern didn’t worry, as the final claw on her body was teleported away. Looking back, she probably should have.
….
So that’s it for chapter 1! Next chapter you should start seeing some familiar characters from the TLOSS series. Also, I will be switching back and forth from Fern and Pyre’s thoughts, mainly (I finished the chapter from Fern’s “perspective”). Anyway, dunno when chapter 2 will be up but look forward to it!
