2010 MLB Playoffs

Major League Baseball playoffs started yesterday, and my Texas Rangers just took game 2 against the Tampa Rays.  It's proving to be a miracle season for Texas so far.

Texas leads Tampa (2-0), Philly leads the Reds (1-0), and the Yankees lead the twins (1-0) as of this topic creation.

Anyone else here watching baseball?

Who is your favorite team?

Well I love them Yankees.

Re: 2010 MLB Playoffs

Anyone else find it ironic how they call it the "World Series" when it's only an American league?

Just had to toss that out there. I personally don't care for baseball, so I am going to have to say Red Sox since I am in New England.

Re: 2010 MLB Playoffs

That's true, the world series includes 29 teams from the states and 1 team Canada.  The idea is that the best players from around the world participate, they just don't represent their countries (like FIFA World Cup and the world baseball classic), they represent billionaires that own a major league baseball club.

Same reason why the NFL team that wins the Superbowl are also known as "World Champions."

I would agree that Sports Associations in the States are sometimes ignorant when it comes to thinking they set the stanard for athletics. But most of the time, they do.

Really, in the end it's all about what rakes in the most cash.
