Adventures of Spyro the Dragon: Episode 4 - Border Patrol

Chapter 1: My nose hurts!

Spyra wakes up. She realises she has still her weapons and equipment belts on.
She gets out of bed and goes down to the armoury and puts her equipment away then she goes into the kitchen.
Spyro is sitting at the kitchen table drinking a goblet of coffee.
He sees her and says “Good morning Spyra. I’ve filled the coffee jug. Help yourself.”
She goes to the coffee machine and fills her goblet.
She sits down at the kitchen table and drinks her coffee.
She drinks it in one gulp.
She bangs her nose on the rim and yelps in pain.
“My nose is sore, I need to get it checked at the medical realm,” says Spyra.
“No need. I had it checked out at P.S.A.S HQ medical bay.
The doctor said it was nothing serious and it will be sore for a few days,” says Spyro before sipping his goblet.
“What’s was the terrorist’s name?” asks Spyra.
“Why?” asks Spyro.
“You look like you know him from somewhere,” replies Spyra.
“I do. I’ve fought him many times but I always win though,” explains Spyro.
“I want to hurt him. I want to hurt him like he hurt me!” says Spyra.

“Don’t worry; you’ll get your chance one day. I guarantee.” says Spyro before he gets up and goes to the coffee machine and fills his goblet with coffee.
Then he goes to the fridge and he takes a chocolate bar out of the fridge.
He un-wraps it and dips it in a tub of batter mix. He puts it on a toasting fork before flaming it with his fire breath. A minute later, he takes it off the fork and breaks it in half.
He gives one half to Spyra.
“Thanks”, Spyra says.
Spyro sits down and eats his chocolate bar.
Spyra finishes her bar and goes into the gym to do some weight lifting.

Chapter 2: Priority one orders.

With a loud bang a red hot cannonball lands on the kitchen table.
Spyro shouts “Code 1 cannonball has arrived!” before he cools it with his ice breath.
He unscrews it and pulls out two envelopes.
One is for Spyra and one for him.
Spyra runs into the kitchen and skids to a halt next to Spyro.
He gives Spyra her envelope. She opens it.
She reads it and turns to face Spyro.
“Mine isn’t the Code 1 message,” she says before she loads up and magically disappears.

Spyro open his letter and he finds a CD-ROM and a USB neural Lead.
He goes up to his room and turns on his computer.
He puts one end of lead into the USB port and the other end into his neural port.
He inserts the CD-ROM into his computer. The disc auto runs and message comes on his screen.

Spyro confirms the box and the CD-ROM launches a security application.
It checks Spyro’s ID using the neural port link.
It finds the check is OK, so it runs a video message from General Daniel.

“Hello commander, Treat this as code 1.
I’ll get straight to the point.
Our scientists have developed a new neural control system for PK-6325-4327 Flame.
You assignment is to test it at a secret location at 1145 hours.
You will be given the new operation procedures via neural port when this video is finished.
Send me a cannonball when you leave your house.
See you at the test site,” says Daniel before the video finishes and closes.

The CD-ROM starts to download the new operation procedures to Spyro.
His eyes flicker as he learns.
10 minutes later, the download finishes.
Spyro breathes heavily.
“That was a lot to learn,” he says to himself before shutting down the computer and putting the CD-ROM into his rack.
He writes a letter to Daniel and seals it in a cannonball. He goes into the garden and loads in to his post cannon.
He fires it and the ball whistles into the distance.

Chapter 3: PK-6325-4327 Flame Test

Spyro goes into his house and steps onto the loading platform.
“Select a Load out,” asks the Loader computer. “Minimum” replies Spyro before the loader puts his D.A.M launchers on his wings and a robot arm puts a P-9 into a holster on Spyros’ belt.
He sets his D.P.S to the test site and he activates the house security system before he leaves.
He walks the Peacekeeper Realm Portal.
He shows his Dog Tags to the sentries and the let him pass.
They salute as he walks by them.
He follows the D.P.S’s directions. He arrives at a wall.
He checks his D.P.S. It’s still pointing at the wall.
He looks around before walking into the wall.
Instead of hitting hard rock, he appears in a secret realm.
“Ah, hello commander Spyro,” says Daniel.
“Nice day isn't sir,” asks Spyro.
“Yes it is. Not a cloud in the sky,” replies Daniel looking up.
“Do you want me in the cockpit?” asks Spyro.
“No need,” replies Daniel before giving Spyro a plug with an aerial on it.
“Oh, now I get it,” says Spyro before plugging the plug into his neural port.
Flame stands up.
“As you can see, commander, Flame is waiting for your orders,” says Daniel.

“What do you want me to tell it to do?” asks Spyro.
“Anything,” replies Daniel.
Spyro gets a CD out of a pocket on his utility belt.
He throws it to an engineer.
“Play this,” Spyro orders.
“What track sir,” asks the Engineer as he plugs a CD player into the PA system.
“9” replies Spyro.
A rock song blasts out the PA system.
Flame dances to the song.
He does an air guitar routine to the song “We Will Flame You”.
The track finishes and another song plays.

It is called “Life’s Like That.”
Under Spyros’ guidance, Flame break-dances.
Daniel has a look of amazement on his face.
“Enjoying the show sir?” asks Spyro.
“Yes, I am. You’re a good dancer,” says Daniel.
“Thank you Sir,” says Spyro.
“Send Flame back to your hanger,” orders Daniel.
As Daniel finishes speaking Flame takes off.
“Spyro, meet Flame at your hanger,” orders Daniel.
“Yes sir,” Spyro replies before magically disappearing with a loud crack.
He appears at his hanger at minute later. 15 minutes later, Flame arrives at the hanger.
Spyro lands it and powers it down.
He takes out neural controller out of his neural port and puts it in a pocket on his utility belt.
Spyro goes into the control room and types a computer keyboard.
A klaxon sounds as the doors start to close.
5 Minutes later, the doors close with a loud clang.
Spyro leaves the control room and leaves the hanger.
He opens the security door.
He walks through the door and it shuts behind him.
The door computer says “Hanger secure and locked.”
A guard salutes as Spyro walks past him.
“At ease, Private” says Spyro.

Spyro calls a lift.
He gets in when it arrived.
He presses Daniel’s floor and the Express at the same time.
The doors close and it starts to rise.
5 minutes later it arrives at Daniels floor.
Spyro gets out the lift and enters Daniel’s reception. Lucy, Daniel’s receptionist is typing a letter on her computer.
She sees Spyro.
“Hello commander, can I help you?” asks Lucy.
“Is Daniel in? I would like to see him,” replies Spyro.
“No he isn’t in the office at the moment.
He’s out supervising a secret project.
I’ll send you a cannonball when he returns.” replies Lucy before Spyro leaves the office and returns to his hanger.
When Spyro arrives in his hanger, he looks at the clock on the wall. It says “1400”.
He goes into the control room and starts the coffee maker.
He pulls the P.A.L (Permission Action Link) card out of a belt pocket and examines it.
It is yellow with “6325-4327 Flame P.A.L” written on it.
“I wonder what you’re for.” Spyro says to himself as he looks at it.

A clang comes from the roof hanger doors. “Huh?” says
Spyro before puts the P.A.L card into a belt pocket and he types on a computer keyboard.
The roof doors open and the cannonball fall onto a walkway.
Spyro picks it up and unscrews it to find an urgent letter. It read:

“Dear commander Spyro,
You are ordered to report border outpost 357 for briefing.
Activate Flame’s weaponry by putting in the P.A.L card in the laptops in your hanger control room.
The P.A.L card is made of a shape memory alloy.
It changes shape and colour at different temperatures. Insert into the laptops from left to right in this order. Room temperature (Yellow), hot (Red) and finally cold (blue).
See you at the outpost
General D. Peacekeeper
PKDA-7532-007”

Spyro burns the letter before activating Flame’s weapons and getting into the cockpit.
A neural jack plugs into Spyro’s neural port and the hatch closes.
Flame takes off.
The hanger doors close behind Spyro.
Spyro turns his head and looks down.
He sees Flame’s reflection in Lake Peacekeeper as he flies over it.
He pulls a tight turn and heads north.

Chapter 4: Briefing

3 miles later, Spyro sees a landing beacon coming from a guarded canyon.
Spyro lands on the landing pad.
He looks around and sees Daniel walking down a walkway.
“Metal Gear Flame reporting for duty as ordered!” says Spyro.
Daniel sees Flame saluting.
“Ah, Metal Gear Flame, Log off and report to the base commander’s office for briefing.
“Yes sir.” Says Spyro before he powers Flame down and gets out of the cockpit.
Spyro walks to the outpost commander’s office and knocks on the door.
“Come in.” says a voice.
Spyro opens the door.
Daniel is behind the desk.
“Close the door commander.” says Daniel.
“Yes sir.” says Spyro before he sits on a chair opposite the desk.
“You are going to start your border patrol at marker 7619.
You leave in 2 hours.
We are getting strange readings at marker 7640.
Check it out while you are patrolling.
I got a feeling something funny is going on there.
Also we have intelligence that a massive Gnoc army is massing at the border and also the have mech. If that is true, I want you to take it out.
Get something to eat while you are here, you look hungry.” says Daniel.
“Yes, sir.” says Spyro.
“Dismissed.” says Daniel.

Spyro leaves the office and goes into the canteen.
He picks up a tray and gets something to eat.
He puts on Lamb carrousel, peas, carrots and Chocolate cake for desert.
Spyro sits at a table and starts to eat.
He is joined by some Peacekeeper soldiers.
They start to eat their lunches.
“Nice day isn’t it Andy?” asks a solider.
“Yes it is.” Andy replies.
“Have you seen the giant dragon mech on the landing pad Chris?” asks a Soldier.
“I have. I wonder who the pilot is. I bet that purple Solider knows. We better ask him.” says a blue marine.
“Better not because he looks mean.” says Chris.
“Well, I’m going to ask him anyway” says the green marine.
“NO DON’T. LEAVE HIM ALONE!” says Andy and Chris in unison.
“I’m still going to ask. Like it or not.” says the green marine.
“You’ll be sorry Ben!” says Chris.
“Excuse me, young dragon” begins Ben.
Spyro looks up from his lunch.
“Can I ask you something?” asks Ben.
“Depends what is.” replies Spyro trying to keep his voice sociable.
He is slightly annoyed that he was disturbed.

“Do you know the mech on the landing pad?” asks Ben.
“Maybe,” Replies Spyro.
“Do you know who the pilot is?” asks Ben.
“That is classified information lieutenant and I’m not telling you so keep your snout out unless you want know what’s good for you.” replies Spyro.
“Look young dragon, I’m bigger and than you and a higher rank so back chat Me.” says Ben.
“Do you know who I am?” asks Spyro his anger rising.
“no.” replies Ben before Spyro pulls out his dog tags.
“Oh *bleep*.” says Ben, Chris and Andy.
“I’ll order a disciplinary for you three, if you carry on.” threatens Spyro.
“Sorry sir,” says Ben, Chris and Andy.
“I didn’t mean any disrespect sir,” says Ben.
“Leave me to eat my lunch in peace.” orders Spyro.
“Yes, sir” the marines say before picking up their trays and sit on another table.
20 minutes later, Spyro finishes his lunch and leaves for the landing pad.

Chapter 5: Patrol

Spyro jumps into Flame’s Cockpit and takes off.
He heads to the border maker that Daniel told him to start patrolling.
2 hours later, he arrives and turns to fly parallel with the border forcefeild fence.
1 hour later, he reaches marker 7640.
He lands and inspects the forcefeild.
He sees some Gnorcs throwing stones at the forcefeild.
Spyro radios the outpost.
“Flame to Outpost 357, says Spyro.
“Outpost 357 here receiving you loud and clear”, replies an outpost radio operator.
“I’m at marker 7640, there is Gnorcs throwing stones at the forcefeild.
What are my orders?” asks Spyro.
“Carry on your patrol, we’ll send some marines to sort them out.” replies the radio operator.

Spyro takes off and continues he patrol.
He sees nothing out of the ordinary until he reaches marker 9979.
He stops suddenly and looks down.
He sees the forcefeild under heavy attack from Riptocs.
“This is Flame at marker 9979.
Forcefeild under heavy attack between markers 9979 and 9985, permission to engage?” asks Spyro into his radio.
“Permission granted. Give them hell.” replies Daniel from Spyro’s radio.
“Don’t worry sir. I’ll will,” says Spyro before he lands and engages the magnetic shield grid.
He pulls out a massive P-4 rifle out of Flame’s wing pocket and opens fire.
They are taken by complete surprise and in 30 seconds they were all dead.
He puts the P-4 away.
“Forcefeild sections 9979 to 9985 secure. Recommend a maintenance crew come and check for damage,” says Spyro into his radio.
“Team are on their way. Carry on with your patrol Flame,” orders Daniel.
“Yes sir,” says Spyro before he clicks off his radio and takes off.

Meanwhile near border marker 47931, a massive Gnorc army is camped a mile from the border forcefeild. They are preparing to attack the Dragon realms.
“Is the mech online yet?” asks a general.
“Yes sir, but all weapons loaded and online.” replies an engineer.
“Excellent, we attack in 1 hour,” says the general.
Meanwhile 10 markers away, Spyro sees the Gnorc camp and he engages the stealth camouflage.
He lands by a border marker.
“Flame to General Daniel. Priority one emergency.” Says Spyro.
“General Daniel here. What’s up Flame?” asks Daniel.
“This is Flame at marker 47931.
A massive Gnorc camp is 1 mile from the fence.
I think the may attack the fence and the realms. The intelligence is true and the mech looks battle ready.
Shall I attack or just keep watch?” asks Spyro.
“I’ll send 50 units of peacekeeper marines. While they are on route keep watch and keep passing us intel,” replies Daniel.
“Yes. Sir.” says Spyro.
“If their mech crosses to our side of the fence, then you attack and take it out!” says Daniel.
“With pleasure sir. Flame out.” says Spyro.

Meanwhile in the Gnorc camp, the general addresses his troops.
“Men, we are going to defeat the dragons once and for all. They are not expecting an attack.
Thus, we have an advantage and the element of surprise.
With our mech, we will defeat the dragons and their lands will be ours!!!” says the general.
All the soldiers cheer and raise their weapons into the air.

Chapter 6: ATTACK!!!!!!

The mech pilot gets into the pilot seat and starts the mech up. It stands up.
“ATTACK!!!” yells the general and all the Gnorcs fire their weapons at the forcefeild.

“Flame to Marine Commander. Priority one,” Says Spyro.
“Marine Commander Ellie here.” Replies Ellie.
“Your ETA to my position?” asks Spyro.
“10 minutes.” Replies Ellie.
“Can you get here in 5 minutes?” asks Spyro.
“We might be able to.” Replies Ellie.
“Well move it! This is priority one!” says Spyro.
“Yes sir! Commander Ellie out.” says Ellie before she turns off her radio.
The Gnorc mech steps over the fence and aims its weapons at the forcefeild.
Spyro stands Flame up and prepares to attack.
“Go no further because I have a weapon lock on you.” says Spyro.

The Gnorc pilot searches round for the source of the voice.
“Show yourself, what are ya, chicken?” he asks.
Spyro manoeuvres behind the gnorc mech and deactivates the stealth camouflage.
Spyro taps the Gnoc mech on the shoulder.
It turns round. “Hello ugly.” says Spyro.
“I’m going to take you out dragon.” threatens the Gnorc pilot.
“I love to see you try buster.” says Spyro before he tail whips the Gnorc mech.
It wobbles but the pilot stabilises it.
“Nice try dragon. DODGE THIS!” says the gnorc pilot before opening fire with the mech weapons.
The bullets veer away from Flame.
“What the hell? How the hell did you do that?” asks the Gnoc pilot.
“I’m not telling you.” replies Spyro.
Spyro gets Flame into a drag-fu stance.
“Bring it on frog face!” says Spyro.
The gnorc mech attacks Flame.
He dodges the Gnoc Mech attacks.
He knocks the gnorc mech over and pins it to the ground.
Spyro aims Flame’s P-4 at the gnorc mech before opening fire.
Spyro disables the enemy mech before aim Flame’s P-4 at the attacking Gnorcs.

He was about fire when he receives a message over his radio. “Leave them to us Flame...” says the message before 432 Peacekeeper marines appear from nowhere and attack the Gnorcs.

2 hours later they were all defeated.
The marines cover the Gnorc mech in C-4 and retreat to a safe distance before blowing the gnorc mech sky high.
Bits of mech fly everywhere.
Spyro radios Daniel.
“Spyro to General Daniel, Gnorc mech destroyed and border secure. Waiting orders.” says Spyro.
“Return to P.S.A.S HQ. I will meet you there for debrief.” says Daniel.
“Yes sir.” Says Spyro before clicking off the radio.
“I leave you in charge, Commander Ellie. Clean up here and return to outpost 347.” orders Spyro.
“Yes sir.” replies Ellie.
Spyro extends Flame’s wings and takes off.

Chapter 7: Coffee Sir?

A few hours later, Spyro arrives at his hanger.
He opens the doors using a remote.
Spyro lands Flame and logs out.
He jumps out of the cockpit onto a walkway.
He makes sure the cockpit hatch is closed before he walks into the hanger control room.
He disarms Flame’s weapon systems and types a command on a keyboard.
A klaxon sounds as the roof doors close.

Spyro turns on the coffee maker.
5 minutes later, Spyro hears a knock on the door.
“Come in.” says Spyro.
Daniel walks in. Spyro salutes.
“At ease Commander.” says Daniel.

“Coffee sir?” asks Spyro.
“Yes commander. Milk and no sugar.” replies Daniel.
Spyro makes himself and Daniel a goblet of coffee.
He brings the goblets over. Daniel takes a goblet.
“Thank you commander.” says Daniel before taking a sip of his coffee.
“What brand is it?” asks Daniel.
“Artisans roast.” Replies Spyro.
“Any order sir?” asks Spyro.
“Nothing at the moment unless you want a extremely boring sentry assignment.” Replies Daniel.
“Can I go home and get some rest?” asks Spyro.
“Yes, but be ready for an assignment in a moments notice.” Replies Daniel.
“Always ready sir.” says Spyro.
“Biscuit sir?” asks Spyro offering the biscuit tin.
“Oh! Chocolate ones my favourite! I’ll have one.” says Daniel.
Daniel finishes his coffee.
“Thanks for the coffee commander.” says Daniel.
Spyro salutes as Daniel leaves.
He washes up the goblets and actives the control system lockout.
Spyro leaves his hanger. The door closes behind him. The sentry on duty salutes as he passes.
While he is walking down the corridor, a courier walks up to him.
“Excuse sir, are you Commander Spyro A. Peacekeeper?” he asks.
“Yes.” Replies Spyro before the courier gives Spyro a box and a letter.
He salutes and disappears with a crack.
Spyro opens the letter. It said:

Dear Spyro,
I heard that you got the flame cross.
Congratulations! I forgot to give you your Peacekeeper medal when you left the academy.
You must wear it at all times. It’s in the regulations.
I’ve send Spyra’s by Cannonball.
Hope to see you soon
Captain Robert Peacekeeper (DAD)
PKRO-7623-780

Spyro calls a lift and gets into it.
He presses 77. He puts on his medal as the lift rises.
When he arrives on the 77th floor he gets out and goes to the post cannon.
He puts a thank you note for his dad into a cannonball and loads into the cannon.
Spyro fires the cannon and ball whistles into the distance.
Spyro watches the ball fly out of sight.

Chapter 8: Rest @ home

Spyro walks into the lift lobby and calls a lift.
It arrives and he gets in.
Lift music is playing in the car as is descends.
10 minutes later it arrives at B1.
Spyro walks into the underground car park.
He pulls his car keys out of a belt pocket and blips it.
A purple Toyota Supra lights blink.
He gets in the car and starts the motor.
A loud roar followed by a hiss fills the garage before Spyro floors the accelerator.
A screech of tires echoes round the garage as Spyro leaves his parking bay for the garage door.
He swipes his security card at the gate.
It slowly opens. Spyro revs his engine as he waits.
When it fully opened, he leaves the garage tires screeching down the access tunnel. The door closes behind him.
He pulls a pawbrake turn onto the PK-4 (Peacekeeper Motorway).
2 miles later, he turns onto the A-4 (Artisans Motorway) and drives for ½ a mile till he reaches the turn off for his road. He turns into the road and follows it to his house.
He turns into the drive and opens his garage with a remote. It opens and Spyro drives into the garage. The door closes behind him. He locks his car and goes up to the Living room. He turns on the TV. He flicks through the channels. He finds that there is nothing worth watching. He puts the TV to the DRNC (Dragon Realms News Channel). He watches it for a little while before falling asleep.
