Old Music vs. New Music
Which is better? When I say old I mean 80's and before vs. 90's and newer.... what do you guys think?
I will try not to impact poll results and won't say either way... discuss:
If tomorrow may never come, and yesterday is just a memory, then what is today worth?

Re: Old Music vs. New Music
I don't see the point in seperating old music from new music;
I like both, but more of the music I listen two is from the 90's and up.
I hate the people that are all like "OH IF YOU DONT LIKE THIS BAND YOU SUCK YOU HAVE TO LIKE THEM CUZ ITS A MILLION YEARS OLD AND THEY DIED".
that annoys me D:

You know what's a GOOD difference between old and new?
B.C. music VS A.C. music.

It answers the topic question, doesn't it? <.<
I don't listen to much music, but I'm going to have to say new if only because it's what I'm most familiar with.

It only sounds the same if all you've heard of "new music" is what's playing on the stations.
Here are two songs that I love that came out this year. Please explain how they sound the same:

Re: Old Music vs. New Music
The music classified as "Metal" today are not metal.
The only real metal is metal from the 80's like Whitesnake, Faster P*ssycat, David Lee Roth, etc.
Music isn't all about fake guitar solos and terrible outward growls.

You're referring to the main genre heavy metal, there are many subgenres with metal. Death metal, power metal, gore metal, speed metal, thrash metal, industrial metal, melodic death, black metal, brutal death, symphonic metal, etc. So what you said is that there is only heavy metal and no other sub genres? Fake guitar solos? So you're saying that Yngwie Malmstein, Steve Vai, Alexi Laiho are all fakes?

Re: Old Music vs. New Music
I love listening to music and yet I'm not very educated with music (in a sence that I don't know many bands and such) but I have to say I prefer modern music. there are only a few old songs I have heard that I actually reconize. oh well. I listen to music because it inspires me or it makes me happy or it helps my mood. so I honestly don't care if I don't have good 'taste' in music.

Re: Old Music vs. New Music
I listen to a lot of metal, old and new, my brother had a metal band(then we moved) they only played covers but hell his guitarists could solo like demons. But I don't only listen to metal, I like Tokio Hotel, 30 Seconds to Mars, Cancer Bats, Rise Against, Muse, Blutengel, etc.

Re: Old Music vs. New Music
Most of the arguements on this forum are based solely on personal
preference. There is no reason to argue about something if the topic is
based on a personal preference.
I'm more of a classic rock fan. I like Pink Floyd, Boston, Bad Company, The
Cure, The Doors [Now these guys are great.], Oasis, and some others.
And now, Creed is making it's entrance into the classic rock world. So I
include Creed on my list of classic rock bands.

All those supposed genres you just mentioned are made up and are only one thing: modern wannabe metal
that's not metal, it's just "hardcore".
@Swaffy: while I'm not a huge fan of the music you listen to I'm glad that you at least know what you're talking about C:

So what you're saying is metal is fake? You do know you are speaking to a Defender of the Faith. So bands like, Nile, DAATH, Lamb of God, etc are fake? And some people call me narrow-minded.

This has nothing to do with narrow-mindedness.
I'm not calling the bands fake, I'm calling the genres fake.
They're simply "hardcore" and not "metal".

Re: Old Music vs. New Music
I already said so; real metal is from the 80's and is in a way poppy, like Whitesnake, Faster P*ssycat, David Lee Roth, Warrant, and more.
I know what I'm talking about. I've been paying attention to these things for as long as I've been able to remember.
