It's alot better to take away something they like. They won't hate you as much and works just as well. One of my teachers was abused as a child and things that happened to her were really bad.

yah when i got PS3 taken away i couldnt live for a week, but i didnt hate my parents, i was just angry at them until i got it back

Wouldn't run away:

Parents take Video Games away.
Parents take computer away.
Parents take my privilage to play sports away.

Would run away:
Parents threaten me with gun.
Parents try to starve me.
Parents lock in basement like a dungeon.

You would have to pack survival gear if you went to the woods. If you went into town, you wouldn't need as much, but then the cops could find you.

If you run away because you have something as material as a PS3 or Computer taken away for a set amount of time, then it is time for you to take a step back and look at yourself. What is really controlling you? Your parents (who should be), or some games, or, dare i say it, Spyroforum.

As for running away, I say it is old. Has been done by many people, and is no longer original. "Whats new?" "I just got a coffee at starbucks. they have a new flavor out now. and my kid ran away" "Oh, how was the coffee?" (Simple conversation. A little bit exaggerated, but you get my point. Not really a typical parent, but thats how others see it.) Weather it works or not is beyond me.

Obsessions are not healthy either. Sometimes it is good for kids to get something taken away. The problem comes in when the kids know about phycology (sp?) and what people think is going to happen. so if the kid wants to sturr things up (Cough, me), we turn things around on them tongue

I just said a couple posts ago that I wouldn't run away becuase of that.

Besides, I've never heard of anyone running away like that.
