How to Train Your Dragon.
New movie comming out. Its not the spyro movie but I belive it deserves some atention as it does concern dragons. I stumbled upon this trailer while surfing the IMDB website.
heres the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHUhygdAZIw
This movie follows the tale of the protagonist "hiccup" as he is assigned to take down a dragon to become a man. When the time comes to finally slay the dragon he changes his mind and lets the dragon go. He decides to train the dragon and gets into some trouble with his people.
What is interesting about this movie is that the movie buisness is taking a new stance about dragons and how they are not "evil". In the trailer Hiccup says "Everything we know about them is wrong".
This movie is being produced by dream works fom the creators of shrek and kung fu panda. This movie is loosely bassed on a book by Cressida Cowsell. Im guessing that this movie will be popular bassed on the other movies that dreamworks has made and their popularity. It is also marked as a comedy.
I want your opinion on this movie and whether it is going to be a huge success or an epic fail.

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
I'd assume this movie will be good since Shrek and Kung Fu Panda were both good. Looks like something I'd be interested in seeing, but I don't know if we can assume "huge success" or "epic fail" just yet. ![]()
I'm not as big of a dragon fan as some people here, but that dragon does look kind of cute. XD

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
Well it's definitely decided to screw the books. In the books, Astrid doesn't exist, toothless is tiny and toothless, every viking has a dragon as a pet, Hiccup is the rightful heir to the tribe, and there's not even a mention of Hiccup's best mate, fishlegs. So it has gone for the whole, change the entire world, but keep a few characters and elements intact for old time's sake.
Still it looks pretty good. I guess it's silly to judge things on what they're based on.

^ It's based on a book? I did not know that.
Might have to read the book before watching it then.

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
Based extremely loosely. I have most of the series, though it's really too young for me. They're by Cressida Cowell, they feature a young Viking named Hiccup who befriends dragons. I expect they just read that far and then twisted its arm off. They left out Camicazi and everything (the most awesome Viking princess ever, who for once in the life of literature, doesn't have a romantic side-plot with the protagonist).

I wonder if they're going to try and make a game after this movie.

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
No, I bloody well hope not. I've had enough of this idiotic idea that every child's movie should become a game. It's starting to spread to more adult movies, like Saw. How long till we end up seeing "Marley and Me: The Video Game". Put your foot down now says I.

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
I agree. Most movies made into games are really boring and have no replay value. Im anxious to see what happens when a video game is made into a movie.

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
It's generally pretty good, but only when the game is really brilliant. Groundbreaking sort of thing. Advent children was fairly good, and so were the tomb raider movies, and the resident evil movies. I believe they're planning an assasin's creed movie, of the second game. That might work, Ezio is certainly a more interesting character than Altair, and I've heard the plot rolls better.

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
Although I like SAW and I want to see how good(or bad) the game is, if it sucks then, bollocks! But why don't they learn their lesson and stop making movie games cuz they all blow

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
I think that I saw that the saw games were pretty good.
And they will continue making movie games as long as people keep buying them.

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
The Saw game was actually not that bad. Just a bit repetitive and bad combat system. If they had fixed that, it would have been the best movie game.
But yeah, the only reason I want to see this is becuase the people from Superbad are in it

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
By the looks of the dragons, a more appropriate title shall be used.
"How to tame a flying fish."

But it's about dragons. Hell, I'm going to see it whether or not it sucks.

I saw that trailer a little while ago and I'm definitely going to see it. I don't like how the dragon looks like a catfish but at the same time I think it makes it look cute.

Re: How to Train Your Dragon.
lord of the rings was pretty close
True, although you watch Eragon and read the book and they messed that one up too. Harry Potter, same story, in the Goblet of Fire he was supposed to fight a Griffin in the preliminary rounds, they just skipped that and moved onto the first challenge
