Hey, they didn't fail, not all of us agree with you on your statements. But that's YOUR OPINION that they failed to reboot the franchise.

Oh dear... Why don't you set up a poll to see who thinks the TLOS series failed or succeeded in its aims. That'll give you a foothold for a proper debate, hm?

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

How about we don't because I don't feel like stopping any flame wars that break out over which series is better. I'm pretty sure a rule is set against that now so let's not go that route. If you want to have appropriate debates about it fine but I also believe that this topic has to do with the future game that might be coming out so try to keep your ideas and discussions going in that direction if you can.

If they redid the old games, then maybe they would be on a system I would actually be able to use at least part of the time. >.>

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

ok i like Dotd. the fact i like Los series is because its different from other spyro games in the past. the combat, soundtracks, & the enemies were much harder & the storyline was good but could be much better. well sorry for being off topic. the game where dotd left off can be greatly improved & something tells me they might continue the Los series cause mike graham did say in a interview that the first 3 games were just to introduce the characters, so possibly the next game could be just focusing on gameplay.

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

If that was just to introduce the characters, I can't wait to see Spyro and Cynder act up on how much they love each other. I posted something similar to this, didn't I? Either way, my point still stands. Only SxC fans would play the game and they will be quite disappointed becuase at least 1/3 of the fans don't like SxC.

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

Ok cool well we'll see. thats what i read in an interview that michael graham said. but i like the Los series & classics too, its a spyro game to me so i dont mind a story having plotholes cause to me its a game not a movie, but hopefully the next game will improve so more people will get into it. both spyro & cynder fans as well as new & old spyro fans could like it,( some ) romance between spyro & cynder, less epic, a bit more humor, incorporate classic spyro details & its all good have ( something ) for all people.

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

In reference to my last post, a reboot of the series would be better at this point. Since some of you seem to take to offense any backlash about your precious LOS, let's try to imagine what they'd do with a reboot.

Just to go hypothetical, I've always wondered how a game with adult Spyro would be like. Going by the old games, he'd probably gain the ability to be bipedal like the other dragons. And since he'd be an adult, he'd most likely get a darker theme (for all those who are begging for a more "mature" Spyro).

Why is it that everytime I try to think of a game with "adult" Spyro in it, I think of dragon wars? God, that would be epic.

I doubt we'll see an adult Spyro, unless he only appears in cutscenes.

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

Bipedal dragons are not real enough for me. I've always had a preference to quadrupedal dragons, simply because they are the traditional form and not some cartoony form. That's partly why i didn't like the original series as much either.

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

I can't say much really on what to expect from the this "game". <_<  As far as we know this could just some hype crap, just to keep us occupied and away from raining down complaints and wrath on Activision or Sierra or whatever. roll

Regardless, Aura24, nice job - you gave us something to talk about it at least... wink

As for what this game is going to be about... TLOS to me is done, thank god. Why, it was a Trilogy that's why... so, that could, be that all TLOS characters can be scrapped... possibly :-| . I personal don't care... I'm not saying I hated them, I'm saying that can be easily thrown away. To me they weren't needed, as much I like Cynder and as much that I would  love to see her as an Anti-Hero, I can also see here being easily removed...

So... with that possibility of the TLOS characters or theme being removed or not continued it looks like we have a fresh slate to start with...

This in turn can be good or bad, depending on who's developing it and who's publishing it. Its not going to do us any good if either the Developer  or Publisher is "bad"... <_<

Publishers are the ones that mass market the game (and provide money and budget) and Dev's are ones that make  the game happen. If one of them is "bad" then were screwed... :omg:

For new fresh ideas... the only thing that I can think of is Spyro  touching Oriental dragons (Chinese Dragons)... Maybe he gets trapped into their dimension and helps them fight off whatever is troubling them, I dunno.

As for gameplay... Please, Please Please... go back to being a plat-former... please!

I don't mind enemies taking more than one hit, but keep it simple... I don't need all of this serious, philosophical BS in Spyro... if your going to have it be creative and fun with it.

Bring back more fantasy, and leave out more seriousness... yes, this is going back to the original games... but to me you have more things to work with when you take stuff out of your imagination then trying to make it look... "real"...

I can't really think of anything else to say on the matter until I get more info...

Hmm...another spyro game being hinted at and a Spyro movie confirmed, anyone else think this is gonna end horribly?

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

It's the new producers from Activision I'm worried about. It was their idea for Rebecca and Gabb to not return to compose the soundtrack for the next game. I hope Mike Graham's the senior producer of the Spyro game.

Knowing that the movie is based off a video game trilogy and we have no idea who's making the "applied new game"... I can optimistically and confidently say that Spyro can't get much worse <_< .

Hmm, a simple composer change isn't going to get me all ruffled and worried... I just want to know what they are going to do with Spyro... Continue from TLOS, Start Fresh, or Bring back more gameplay mechanics from the orginals or do a mix something... As for music... I can care less... but I can see on how that will play effect on the direction of the new game...

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

I think TLOS was just an experiment. And I want to keep it that way. Most TLOS fans want to see a continuation why? Spyro and Cynder have kids? More Complexitiers around characters. Most TLOS fans want a soap opera, and that is the problem, that cant happen. As for storyline, you really have to change the whole thing. Malefor was supposed to be the most evil and powerful villian, who can beat that? They really need to find a completely different type of story if they want to make it any good. A Prequel would be nice and id hate to say it but.....MMO?

An experiment that went horribly wrong!! (nuke) ::D

But yeah, it looks like a fresh new slate huh? But like I also said, as much as Like TLOS characters, I can see them being thrown away  by a snap of a finger... Plus that also means a Reboot... ugh, I hate reboots <_< ...

But, an MMO? Hmmm, I dunno, maybe... but that prequle stuff sounds like it might do good for the movie, if its going to come out or not <_<.

The movie is probably well on its way, unless people are just slacking off about it, and im not surprised if thats true.
And an MMO because I know it will sell well. tahts why.

Ah I see, get some more dough so you can bake some nice, warm, fattening and delicious cookies later on eh wink ? Well if that happens, lets hope the publisher / developers are now better cooks, or they'll hire better cooks.

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

i think they should keep the combat, or tone it done a bit, what bored me about the old games was one time scorch & the enemies were dead. Dotd combat was fun, much more challenging, i had fun with the combat

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

I really liked how the challenge came from the amount of enemies and the variety in the original games, like in misty bog. But I agree a bit of combat would be nice to add.

Re: New Spyro game "most likely" in motion

^^
Stupid frogs man, stupid frogs...

Anyway, yeah, one hit kills does get a little boring, but it was simple enough to not make it too easy, easy yes, but not too easy... I don't mind enemies taken more the one hit but I don't like how the combat was handled in TLOS... I don't mind being surrounded by enemies, is just that it felt more like a chore then actually fun to me. Constantly fighting, and yes that is a bit of exaggeration, enemies got boring for me fast.

Now if enemies can go down in like 2 - 5 hits then ok... but do you guys think that will make it too simple again or will add just the right balance.

In other words do you think enemies should have the health bar a certain amount of hits before they go poof?

Well, the only enemies that have the health bar are the bosses and mini-bosses in both the Old and the New Spyro games.

Wait didn't all the enemies in ANB and TEN have health bars?
.....Attack frogs ugh i hated those and also the armored turtles that spit at you in ugh forgot the name of the level.
I wonder what type of gameplay this new game will have well guess we'll find out in spring or so when they announce it.
