Re: Religion

I was passing by a church one time, and this is what the sign outside said:

"FREE TRIP TO HEAVEN!  GET DETAILS INSIDE!"

My mom and grandpa wouldn't stop laughing.

Re: Religion

I'm technically an atheist, but mostly I just don't care.  I have no interest really in where life came from or what happens when we die.  All I care about is right now.  Anything that's happened is old news and has no effect on me now.

So yeah, I guess I don't believe in god but mostly because I can't take the time out of my day to think one way or the other.  I just exist.

Re: Religion

I'm a Christian, but there are many things about my religion that upset me. ._.

I hate how a lot of Christians freak out over retarded things like, "Oh, hey, that movie is based on a book that was made by someone who is antichristianity! We can't watch it, we must flame~"

I also find it difficult to remain faithful when we're always turning around and shunning people who think differently while we say we're being open-minded. u_u

I have many, many more things that I would type, but this post would just be longer and longer.

Basically. I wish that most of the Christians around me thought like I do. ._x;; No shunning of movies because of the person who created the freaking idea, no hate. x_.;; It's a bit much to ask for from the world, though. ( '-')

Edit- No offence intended while using the word 'retarded,' just how I feel about it. >_<

Re: Religion

I'm okay with people that don't believe, it just really ticks me off when they say, "There's no god, so stop wasting your time."  It's beyond annoying.

Re: Religion

Hi Guys, I'm a Bahai, I know it sounds weird and makes people go "Your a what?" Basically its the religion of the new age, we believe that every 2,000 years God sends down a new prophet to basically update the people on religion. Please people don't go asking me about my religion its really irritating to me, I guess that stems from when my dad got ill and went a little religion crazy and preached to me till I wanted to pull all my hair out. Goggle search is a wonderful thing, you can research about my religion there where its safe. Happy Reading!!!

Re: Religion

Baiha'i sounds like it emphasises the unity of all people in the world. Sounds like a good and interesting concept.

I thought I was Atheist, but after some research, decided I was probably closer to Agnostic.

Re: Religion

Im agnostic, looking back, theists (namely christians) have stated that our minds will never be able to grasp certain concepts, for example, whilst we can theorise, we can never truly understand god, nothingness and creation

so what i dont understand is why people realise this yet continue to choose a religion which claims to "know" things about subjects we have no way of knowing

there is absolutely no belief that can claim to be true, science's attempt to explain the creation of life and the universe is every bit as faulty as religion's, because they all come down to the same point, we cant comprehend something, coming from nothing
how can god have created us, if there was nothing to create him? (substitute god with atoms/big bang/etc.)
how can something just have existed without a source?

we'll never know so why wonder, and why pretend that anyone has the answers

what religion is good for is teching morals and ethics, but, the downside is that these same religions that teach us to "do un to others as others would do un to you" tell us that apparently anyone who through a freak of nature and genetics finds themselves attracted to the same sex is a bad person if they act on their feelings, because apparently they arent allowed to feel this emotion called love that as humans we value very highly

heck the catholic church seems to be of the opinion that making love ie. sex, is bad and evil, unless your doing it to have children of course. Well ok technically you can have sex for fun if you want to, but make sure you dont use protection, regardless of whether youre 18 yrs old and unready to raise a family, or if your partner has a STD, too bad.

Re: Religion

My friend calls me an "agnatheist" because I don't believe in God, but I believe in an afterlife, so I am not agnostic nor atheist.

weeeeell

id argue that atheism requires disbelief in any supernatural forces, of which an afterlife would be one

a religion (and therfore theism) doesnt require belief in a god, it may be a non sentient energy force (like the force in star wars) or in this case the belief in a supernatural place that we go to when we die

id say taco godess is a theist, she just doesnt subscribe to an organised religion, she has her own beliefs based on her own mind.

Re: Religion

I wouldn't say anyone with their own beliefs is an atheist, if they believe in god/the afterlife, they arn't atheist because atheist means NO religion, it doesn't mean not subscribing to a major religion.

I myself am christian, except i have atheist thoughts..

good god man just admit you cant leave and be done with it lol >_>

however yeah i agree, however you have to be careful using the word "beliefs" everyone has a set of beliefs religion just attributes those beliefs to the supernatural

But atheism is, by definition, the lack of a belief in a god or other deities.  You can be an atheist and still hold philosophical views and even have an idea of an afterlife.  Just look at Buddhism.

Taco Godess stated that she does not believe in god, which is exactly what theism necessitates.
