Dude, this is fact. How many underground bands are part of the industry or on reality shows? When was Varg Vikerness on Pop Idols or Darkspace on The Conan O'Brian show? Only mainstream bands are part of the "industry". Also, film making is an art too and photography and look at it's industry, it's bigger than the music industry. Also I'm a musician, am I part of the industry? Have I been on a reality show? Have I signed onto a major record label? No, do your research mate and I mean proper research. Also if you're talking about pop music then yes, pop is the biggest sell-out genre around so it's understandable that it takes itself too seriously. But what you fail to understand is it's not just signing onto a label or writing a catchy song, it's about soul, which these sell-out bands lack. Soul is what makes the music good, same can be said about paintings, soul goes into that too.
Tip: Musicians who actually work hard really get annoyed when they're put on the same level as the sell-outs.
