Dragons in novels, movies and games.
Are you a fan of any dragons featured in novels, movies or games other than Spyro? (or the novels/movies/games themselves).
For example...
- Draco (Dragonheart - movie) or Drake (Dragonheart II - movie)
- Firedrake (Dragon Rider - novel).
- Saphira, Thorn, Glaedr, Shruikan (Eragon - novel/film. Eldest, Brisingr - novels).
- Various dragons (Dragonriders of Pern - series of novels).
- Temeraire (Temeraire - series of novels).
- Auron, Wistala, Copper (Age of Fire - series of novels).
- Long Danzi, Kai (Dragon Keeper, Garden of the Purple dragon, Dragon moon - novels).
- Puff (Puff the magic dragon - song).
- Elliot (Pete's Dragon - movie).
- ?? dragons (Dragonrealm - series of novels).
- Shenlong/Shenron (DragonballZ - TV episodes and soon-to-be movie)
- Mushu (Mulan - movie).
- Ridley (Metroid - series of games).
- Fidelis, Joyeu, Fortuna, Honora, Veritas, Forta, Hopian (Deltora - series of novels).
- ??? Dragons (Dungeons and dragons - movie).
- Kazul (Enchanted Forest Chronicles - series of novels)
- See this link for a very long list of other fictional dragons.
Just a reminder to use spoilers if describing the plot of a story. Thanks! ![]()

I've heard of most of them, and I like all of them. I prefer western style dragons to eastern stlye ones though.

Re: Dragons in novels, movies and games.
I was really into the Dragonriders series a long time ago, but I can't remember any particular dragon that was my favorite.
I like Maleficent's dragon form if that counts.
Draco in Dragonheart is awesome.
And huh? How come Ridley is on that list? He may look like a dragon but he certainly isn't, he's just a space pirate. xD

Ridley is a space dragon. But he is a leader of the Space Pirates.

I'd be interested to know where in the game does it say he's a dragon?

I think it mentions it in the instruction manual in the first game. Zebesian Space Dragon. But he is definantly a dragon.

I don't think he is, they just call him that because they don't know what his real species is. *shurg*

Re: Dragons in novels, movies and games.
I like the dragons in Dragonheart, Dragon Rider and the Eragon series.
@ Antr the rolf: I left out Spyro because we already know that all of us love Spyro.
@ Kazoobie64: I tried the first book in the Dragonriders of Pern series, but couldn't get into it, there were too many new terms (like 'Weyr') that I didn't understand.
I only listed a few dragons as examples, but I've edited it and put Ridley up there.
@ Phoenix Flyer: Same. I also like it when they're friendly and can communicate with humans, although I like the other dragons too.
@ SpyroandCynder4EVAH: Lol what's wrong with the Eragon game?
@ DragonFireOKN: Nice vid! I hadn't even seen half of those dragons. You've included screenshots from a very wide range of sources, and the guitar music sounds great. Unfortunately I can't rate it as I have no account there.

Re: Dragons in novels, movies and games.
'The Enchanted Forest Chronicles' is a very good series too (four books long, by Patricia C. Wrede). Light-hearted and funny, just how I like 'em! Kazul is an awesome dragon, and for some reason she makes me think a little of Razz on here - in a good way, of course. She's very approachable and reasonable. Lots of 'ables. XD
I loooove the Age of Fire books and am eagerly awaiting the next, Dragon Strike.
I wasn't so much a fan of Anne McCaffrey's Pern series since they got a little repetitive, no offense to anybody who likes 'em here, but the first few were pretty good. Just not my cup of tea.
Dragonheart. <3
Annnnd I also read Dragon Rider; it was a cute book, Sorrel or whatever her name was tickled me.
... *DRAGON GEEK FOR LIFE*
P.S. The "Flight of Dragons" movie. NEVER. EVER. Forget it. D: *Childhood favorite*

I just added that to the list, though I haven't heard of it. It looks like it was just release a couple of years ago. ![]()

That's quite a collection.
About Dragon Rider, yeah, Sorrel's grumpy comments were quite amusing. I was a little confused about Ben's role as the legendary dragon rider, though.

No offense taken here, I was very young and foolish then, so it was more of a guilty pleasure. I can't seem to like them now.

I've read most of the ones already up on the list, I just don't want to run my mouth off talking about all of them. I'd bore you all to tears. XD
Hee hee, yes. The twiggy guy was cool too - gah, need to read that book again, can't remember their names! Nettlebrand (I think) was my favorite, however.
Oh boy oh boy, some of these books/movies I've not heard of before, I'm going to have me some fun dragon geeking! *Rubs hands together, cackling*
No offense taken here, I was very young and foolish then, so it was more of a guilty pleasure. I can't seem to like them now.
I got bored after the third book. It just seemed to focus a bit too much on the romance (or was it just me?) and political jibberjabber when all I wanted was some nice action and stuff actually happening. It started floating around in limboland and filling pages with chatter.
... Gosh, I must have one heck of a short attention span though. XD

98% of those clips you won't find anywhere on the web due to the fact that I was the one who took them. I took all the Saphira ones, etc.
