Re: ANTHROCON 09

I don't really think they care about the artist's opinion. They'll call it furry regardless of the artist's attitude toward the anthromorphic genre. In fact, I've seen artists defending themselves to say "I draw furries, but I'm not a furry" and then people take this statement to mean that the artist is a closet case.

Given the subject matter and the repuatation of the furry... world... thing, I find this misspelling absolutely hilarious.

Hah, I didn't notice that. Yes, that is one of the things that furries are know for and why they have a bad reputation.

I actually think it's pretty hilarious that in the world of the internet, a place brimming with all sorts of weird fetishes and people who embrace them, furries are at the bottom of the food chain.

I just don't like the whole furry lifestyle because I think it's retarded, or the majority of the art.  Or all of it, unless you count like, Bugs Bunny a furry, which I don't think he should be considered.

personally i think some anthropomorphic art is pretty good, and i read the redwall series which is about anthropomorphic mice/rats etc.

also i think furry fetishes are at least a teeny weeny bit understandable, at least when compared to weirdos who think that pain is awesome

pain is your body telling you something is wrong, these people basically ignore that, whats next they going to ignore the feeling in their bladder that tells you when to pee... actually forget i said, im sure thats already a fetish

I agree with this. The only real reason why some furries severely creep me out is because I see them everywhere, and some have actually forced their way of thinking on to me. Kind of reminds me of my old days at Deviantart when people would request the strangest artwork for me to draw them involving anthromorphic animals. (Even if it's not exactly rated R, I'm sure if I mentioned them here you will want to tear your brain out of your eye socket and burn it so you can longer feel the pain.)

Despite all that, I guess I can understand the fetish to some point. Some furries at least have features that closely resemble human anatomy. But actually, most of the "creepy" ones I've seen actually have a fetish within a fetish if that makes any sense. (IE. "I just don't like anthromorphic animals, I like anthromorphic animals that [insert other fetish here]")

Re: ANTHROCON 09

I'm personally pretty tolerant to furries, mainly because a lot of online people I know are (don't know of any in real life). It's all a matter of what you do as a furry. A lot of them are just artists who portray themselves as a character they've depicted themselves as. Many go in fursuits for costume fun or as their job as a mascot. There's actually just a small percentage that are furries for sexual reasons or for zoophilia. However, that small percentage seems to be the first thing that comes in mind when a lot of people think of what a furry is*. I don't mind that some people like to think of themselves as a different animal in the spiritual sense, but a lot of people will regard that kind of thinking as bizarre.

Overall, it's what you define as a furry which formulates your outlook on them. This includes your degree of tolerance on a furry's action and attitude (see my above example).

*some artists draw furry p-o-r-n art, which doesn't help either and only strengthens the stereotype

Re: ANTHROCON 09

i have to admit, when done right the anthropomorphic thing can be kind of attractive, its really important though that the human features kinda outnumber the animal ones, otherwise youre crossing the line into zoophilia

like when someone draws a cat girl with 3 sets of boobs... now i know we joke about it sometimes... but us guys (most of us) dont really find that hot... you can have too much of a good thing

Re: ANTHROCON 09

3 SETS of boobs

a total of six boobs.

I saw a video once of a chick with 3 natural boobs.

Not disfigured or anything, 3 perfectly normal, well-sized, shapely boobs.

It was...magnificent.

don't say "things" like it's some taboo thing.  They're just boobs.  You see them every day.

That term is a bit offensive to some females, so be careful.

I have never met someone who is offended by the term "boobs"

They're probably the same women who think it's offensive that "woman" has the word "man" in it, and spell it "womyn" or something.
