First of all, we're not arguing whether it's related to aerial hunting or not. You just said "nobody kills animals for no reason," not "nobody aerial hunts for no reason." And why give names? It doesn't have to be a famous person. Children and mostly demented adults abuse animals all the time, and hey, some of them end up being serial killers.

I don't really care about wolves. They are not sentinent. All we have to do is keep their numbers high enough to stop overpopulation of other species, and we're good.

The thing is though, even if wolves WERE overpopulated, if you're putting a bounty on wolf hunt, you're going to have every money-hungry person out there go nuts on the kill and then decimating the population.

From what I've read, the bounty is only in some areas. The bounty can be canceled at any time if there is a problem, unless the U.S. government has become even more inefficient lately.

Re: *********** !WOLVES - AERIAL HUNTING! ***********

I've always thought the proper thing to do was just, if you're a rancher and a wolf is bothering you, get your shotgun and go kill the little guilty bugger yourself. I guess maybe people are just so incredibly lazy that they don't want to do it anymore, even though it's just as effective and less guilt-inducing since you're actually killing a wolf you know did something wrong.

Also, the thing that bothers me the most is that Palin is putting a bounty when the Alaskan constitution banned that crap since the 80s. So she basically has no legal authority to do so.

Fine, if you want to get so uber-specific, yes, I should have said hunting (even though I felt it was clearly the implication).

Packs of wolves 24/7 on large open land that you can't patrol all day.  But hey if you find a way for one rancher to manage to keep all pests that might be dangerous to his crops at bay without him having to stay up all day and be in simultaneous places at once, please, alert science of this.

It was just a theory, and ranchers usually made groups back then to take down pests together, by prediction of where and when the wolf would show up. I used to work in a ranch, and foxes were a particular bother. Though thanks to them being smaller they were easily intimidated by the watchdog. Personally, I think this "kill to underpopulate" is all crap, so I'm not for a patroling an open area thing and killing a wolf that like I said, is perfectly innocent. (IE. No livestock in Alaska.)

Also, I'm sorry I got so jumpy, but if you would have said "hunting" in the first place, I wouldn't have done so. "Killing" and "hunting" have two different definitions BECAUSE hunting has a purpose. If they're going out and shooting an animal and then just leaving it there, it looks like hunting, but it's not.

I'm just very touchy on the whole "people who are sensitive about animals are nuts" because I get jumped about it a lot. I can't really help it if I'm sympathetic for something perfectly defenseless that had no reason to be killed. If I could have told myself "it's just another cat on the street, it doesn't matter, just ignore it" all those years ago when a couple of bullies decided to kill a kitten right in front of me just to be jerks, that probably would have helped me a lot, but I couldn't. I always just thought it was simple human emotion for a living being.

Yup, Thank you. Wolves have feelings as much like humans do....They howl at times of sadness, they wag their tails in happiness, and so on.

Re: *********** !WOLVES - AERIAL HUNTING! ***********

They aren't even 'controlling the population'  or 'saving farmers animals/crops'

Domesticated, feral dogs, coyotes, and birds of prey kill more livestock than wolves.   Wolves hardly kill any, they are just found eating the remains that they scavenged, and than they are blamed for killing it.  And maybe farmers shouldn't build their land over wolves hunting grounds then.  Farmers are destroying wolves  homes and hunting land to build their farms, so wolves have every right to eat/kill their livestock, and they hardly even really kill anything!

And at this rate, we are gonna lower wolves population too much.

These show how important wolves are.  If we keep killing wolves, the food chain gets thrown off.

http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2007 … inion5.txt

http://www.bymnews.com/new/index2.php?o … 1&id=35878

And do you really think people get in a plane and kill wolves for saving farm animals?  THEY DON'T!  They do it for money, and for fun.  Plus, Palin is just feeding into it.

I'm not really entirely sure about the whole country, but I'm pretty sure it is illegal in Alaska. Paldin also wanted to take Polar Bears off the endangered species list, probably for the same reason, so they'd be available for hunting.

I feel very bad for those animals! I
know that made me feel like a kid
who cuddles fuzzy things, but on the
serious side, they do need to
be saved. They are creatures
created by God, and heartless
humans flying around destroying
them and their existence makes me
mad.

Save them.

God bless,
Swaffy

Re: *********** !WOLVES - AERIAL HUNTING! ***********

Well, all I can say is I don't necessarily feel that sorry for them. They're animals. It's the circle of life and there really isn't much you can do about it. Hunt or be hunted. Simple as that.

→You don't know much about life, do you? Most of those animals
are being killed for sport purposes only. Imagine yourself being one of
those wolves. Read it slowly.

→As you are feeding your family and your mate, you hear a growling
noise coming from the distant sky, so you look up to see what or where
the odd noise coming from, and you spot an odd-looking bird thing in the
sky flying towards you. Being a wolf, you get scared and run away from
the big flying beast coming after you. Next thing that happens, the ground
near you is exploding as the people fire bullets at you. Pop! You got a
splitting headache as something hit your body. You are slowing down as
you lose energy from being hit. You try to get up to run from the
frightening enemy, but the pain is just too much. Then comes dizzyness
and more headaches. You black out. Your body hits the ground. No more
feeling. It's over.

→I know a lot about life actually. My small Experience in life has taught me greatly. You honestly cant imagine yourself as one of those animals. You are who you are and you're not one of them. You were born the species on top and that's just the way that life goes.

→Again, I can't imagine that because I am no one myself nor do I have any desire to be.

Different people have different views. I gave my opinion, you gave yours. Let's just leave it at that.

Its not illegal in Alaska unfortunately sad
Defenders of Wildlife tried to make it, and the voters of Alaska voted against it, but the government of Alaska keeps finding loopholes I think...

Well...
Do weeds even think or feel pain?
Do weeds have family or fans that will be heartbroken to see them go?
Does the farmer pluck the weed for fun/sport?
Are weeds endangered and being killed off?

ummmm
NO
NO
NO

Swaffy is 100% right.  Weeds have no souls - so they don't feel.  And even if they did-atleast being plucked from the ground is a quick death...
