*********** !WOLVES - AERIAL HUNTING! ***********

Every, ESPECIALLY wolf and/or bear lovers should read this whole post, please, please, please.  Even if you don't love wolves/bears....

Aerial hunting is a brutal "sport" where wolves and bears are shot from the sky, using lowflying aircrafts.

More info:
http://www.defenders.org/programs_and_p … unning.php

This is a touching video that will want you to sign against it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zr183lk-wQk

Against it?  Sign the Paw Act:
https://secure.defenders.org/site/Advoc … avewolves_
Unfortunately, not enough people signed this year, so Defenders of Wildlife are preparing to see another brutal season of aerial hunting.  But we can still stop it

And Sarah Palin, John McKane's vice president promotes aerial hunting, as well as the killing of other wildlife.  So its not just aerial hunting. She:

~offered a $150 bounty for wolves to entice hunters to kill more wolves in certain parts of the state, with hunters having to present a wolf's foreleg to collect the bounty.

~She actively opposed a ballot measure campaign seeking to end the aerial hunting of wolves by private hunters and approved a $400,000 state-funded campaign aimed at swaying people's votes on the issue.

~She also introduced legislation to make it easier to kill wolves and bears and which would have also removed the aerial hunting initiative from the ballot and block the ability of citizens to vote on the issue.

~The Board of Game, which she appoints, has approved the killing of black bear sows with cubs as part of the program and expanded the aerial control programs.

~The media is currently looking into reports that state officials implementing one of the aerial wolf killing programs illegally killed five-week old wolf pups just outside their dens.

The videos, and the info above is not mine.  The info is from here:
http://www.defendersactionfund.org/news … palin.html

Please, I beg of you, sign, and do anything for wolves and Alaskan wildlife.  And I won't get into politics because I don't want to cause a fight but please know what Sarah Palin is doing is quite wrong.  But wolves are my love, and I can't STAND to see them go down.  So spread the word & sign!

Thanks!

Um, you can't blame John McCain and his vice president for doing anything wrong. It's not illegal. Even though some people (me being one of them) may not agree with aerial hunting, lot's of people are indifferent to hunting; They don't care.

I don't blame McCain (sorry I misspelled before, genus me).  But Sarah Palin does promote it.  And its not illegal, correct.  But the point of signing is to make it illegal, so people are not allowed to do it.  But I am happy your against it =]

I honestly don't believe in animal's rights. While I do not support the needless torturing of animals or killing them off to the point where they become extinct, I have nothing against what these people are doing.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of killing innocent animals for fun. I just made that last point because I've heard people attacking Sarah Palin for things that don't even matter. Like her teenage daughter being pregnant for instance. That doesn't make her a worse politician. That's not really on topic, so I won't discuss more here.

That is a list of things that Sarah Palin as GOVERNOR of Alaska has enacted. Imagine what would happen if she got into office.

Giving them your personal information won't help at all, and I'd advise not to do it. Just because they're 'trustworthy' doesn't mean they're not going to sell it.

This is what you can actually do to stop it. Write a letter to your Congressmen and Senators for your state. More than likely, if they're Democrat, they'll actually care about this and do something.

I totally understand what you mean.  But it is her choice to approve of those things and give rewards.  But the teenage daughter thing makes no sense.  It doesn't relate to how good a politician she is.

I honestly don't believe in animal's rights. While I do not support the needless torturing of animals or killing them off to the point where they become extinct, I have nothing against what these people are doing.

Yeah it is brutal =/
And yup everyone is entitled to their opinion ^^

...What a cheap way to die...

I think it's wrong, if they're offering bounties, that means they'll be hunted until they're gone.

Unless the wolves are attacking a nearby flock or something, I see no point in going after them.

Re: *********** !WOLVES - AERIAL HUNTING! ***********

Yeah, it's a dumb thing to do and Sarah Palin is dumb. Also, quote from a friend:

<TheNintenGenius> of course Sarah Palin also put a bounty on wolves even though she didn't have any legal authority to and it was unnecessary
<TheNintenGenius> and sued the government to try and take polar bears off the endangered species list
<Kazooie64> um why did she do that? Does she have a trauma with wolves?
<TheNintenGenius> so basically in terms of her ecological record, she's p***-poor
<TheNintenGenius> she grew up in a whitetrash, podunk town in Alaska so I'm assuming she's like a lot of rural folks in believing "RRRR WOLVES BAD"

Son of a *bleep*, or should I say, "daughter" of a *bleep*!!! She is wrong, killing off innocent Wolves!!! They have as much reason to live like we do. You know, Why kill off Wolves just for kicks?! Thats just like humans killing each other!

Also, In a Wolf's life, they actually are defending theirselves, and they care for other members in their pack, and howl........a mournful howl if their closest mate passes on.....its sad.....humans.....have made this world a much more dangerous place now....we all....are beasts.....we just....dont realize it!

I'm so happy you all feel that way too ^__^
I am just trying to let everyone know about it.  And I understand if you don't want to give your info, but there's nothing wrong with it. They are a big company and I don't think its possible for them to do anything with it.

Wolves make places dangerous for their prey. They are just as "beastly" as we are.

Re: *********** !WOLVES - AERIAL HUNTING! ***********

I think the majority of the responses here are just people like "OH MAN I LIKE WOLVES BECAUSE THEY ARE COOL LOOKING AND WEREWOLVES WERE IN UNDERWORLD AND IN THAT TWILIGHT SERIES I LOVE WOLVES (even though they would tear me to shreds if I got near them!)"

Thing is: no one just kills animals "because".  There's always a reason for doing it.

Here's one part that I definitely know why they're doing:

"~offered a $150 bounty for wolves to entice hunters to kill more wolves in certain parts of the state, with hunters having to present a wolf's foreleg to collect the bounty. "

These are called control hunts.  These "certain parts of the state" (note how it doesn't say where) are most likely farms or crops.  This is a common occurrence throughout the US, where people are given permits to hunt whatever "pest" is going around farms or crops, damaging said farms or crops.  Chances are there are wolves either eating chickens or something, so they have them hunted.

I didn't bother to look up the rest because if that one has an explanation that's kindly left out because it helps it tug at peoples' heart strings and blind them to simple logic (oh hey maybe these people aren't killing animals just for kicks?), the rest do.

Re: *********** !WOLVES - AERIAL HUNTING! ***********

Honestly, both sides of the explanation can be biased. Ones enforcing this kind of practice could just be supporting the decisions of someone on their side of their political party. It can clearly leave out how unnecessary the practice of aerial hunting is in the first place, as wolves aren't even overpopulated. Nor is there even any livestock to protect in Alaska.

You can call the reason as stupid or pointless as you want, but I dare you to name someone who killed an animal "just because".

Oh ok, I guess if you can count "because I get my jollies out of seeing an animal whine and twist helplessly on the ground before shriveling up and dying" as a reason then alright.

I think his reason being: To have fun. If it wasn't that, I'd have to completely disagree.

Some people like hunting-I don't, but some people do. You can't really change that.

I don't really care about wolves. They are not sentinent. All we have to do is keep their numbers high enough to stop overpopulation of other species, and we're good.

And if that's what you think, that's fine. Some people care about animals almost as much as they care about humans. So naturally, they'd want to protect them. Me? I'm kind of in between the two.

Some people care way too much about animals.

Not just animals though, only the "cute" or "cool" ones.

I doubt anyone here is going to make a big fuss because someone kills a desert spider or a coconut crab.  And I'm sure they love their beef and pork.

Yeah, that's the thing that is wrong about some  of those people. (notice the emphasis on "some", not all) If the animal is cute, "Oh let's save it!", If it's not, they couldn't care less.
