Yes, I have heard Green Day's "original" music, and it was just as garbage.
And yes, they are a punk band. It's called pop punk and it encases things like My Chemical Romance, Green Day, and Panic At The Disco.
What you label it is pretty much a moot point though, it's still just as horrid.

I would be willing to bet that you havent actually heard their origanalmusic. If the music your talking about is from the album Dookie, then thats not their origanal music. That was actually the 3rd album they released. But if you have heard the music from the album 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy hours, then thats their original music.

Green Day hasn't made an "original" track in their entire music career. I've heard just about every album of theirs because I used to listen to them when I was like, 12. But you start listening to other bands and getting to know the roots of genres and the artists that made it what it was, and Green Day is really just a copy and paste band that whores into whatever happens to be popular at the time. Their first two albums were generic punk, but not as pop punk. Then they released Dookie and a few other albums that again catered solely to the most popular form of the punk genre, similar to how if you look/listen to them now they're virtually indistinguishable from other pop punk/alternative rock/whatever they call it bands like My Chemical Romance. Their entire career has been piggybacking on the artists that really were original.

They sound the exact same. Muddy guitar riffs meant to sound "hardcore" or even "musical" but in the end are bland and about as deep as a spoon. I like MCR, I've seen them live twice, both times were amazing. There's something about older groups and artists that I dislike a lot, I don't know what it is, but it's just something I really hate. I like the kind of music bands like Green Day and MCR make. They all sounds similiar because they're in the same genre, which is Alternative.

Did I ever say that people aren't allowed to like them? No. All I said is that the depth of their music is determined solely by what is popular at the time.

When American Idiot came out, there was a fad in the punk clique for wearing really thin ties on clothes that ties don't go with. In all of the pictures advertising American Idiot, BJ has a nice ol' pencil-thin red tie.

10 years from now, they'll be wearing and making whatever is popular then.

Ok, i must admit that they do wear ties and everything like that. I can hardly deny it. But their music doesn't just go with whatever is popular at the time. I mean, look at the album Warning. That didn't sell very well at all. And American idiot was something a bit different. People have even started calling it a rock opera.

American Idiot was different from their normal stuff, because what they were doing was going out of style. So they decided to change how they made their songs to fit with what is popular.

And dude Warning reached #4 on the billboard charts and went gold. How is that "not selling very well at all"?

And people don't start calling AI a rock opera, it is a rock opera. That's not some kind of special label, it's just a type of album, any album that tells a story. And that has been done over nine thousand times in the past.

Oops sorry i meant 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy hours. I dont know how i got them mixed up lol. 1039 didn't sell that well when it came out but now its selling ok just because they re released it. They werent just going with what was popualr back then, they just did their own thing. It did sound a bit similar to a lot of other music back then but they weren't going with what as popular.

American Idiot + International Superhits

(the international superhits is a album of past hits from their studio albums)
I got American Idiot in January 27th 08 on my Birthday and since then I have been a Green day fan.
