videogames really dong scar me im not sure why an if its after a scary movie the pic sucks so really i think movies are more scary that games or the real stuff if you beleve in supernatural

I've played Silent Hill, and a little bit of Silent Hill 2. But the scariest game I've ever played? Don't laugh- Ecco the Dolphin. Hey, I said not to laugh! Underwater environments are FREAKY, man! Running through the fog and shooting at deformed fetus-looking things? Not scary. Shooting zombies through a pair of crosshairs? Feh. But sharks COMING AT YOU FROM THE DARK, OPEN NOTHINGNESS IN FRONT OF YOU? DARNIT, I'M NOT PLAYING THIS.

...I think I may have just given a bad name to female gamers everywhere. I'm truly sorry. In my best defense, though, I honestly thought Silent Hill was disappointing in the 'scare' factor- I played it for the head-scratching plot and characters. It might've been different if I'd been exposed to it when I was little, but that also might explain why I have a fear of underwater environments- Ecco was the scariest game for me then, too.

Seriously, Dead Space is very scary. When you are about to be ambushed, you can see the shadow of the monster sneaking from behind. When you turn around? It isn't there. When you turn back to continue... Let's just say you better have your plasma cutter out.

System Shock 2, an old game but a f*****g scary game nonetheless, that and maybe RE4, Doom 3 was quite scary too...

Yes. The old Sonic games for the Genesis were the scariest things I've ever played in my life.

I am an adult now, nothing fictional or supernatural scares me. At age 6 is when I was vulnerable, but even then, stuff like that didn't scare me because I was expecting it. When you're playing a kiddy game and they decide to add a horrifying thing is when it truly messes with your psychological being. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was my first videogame and when the game depends on you to keep your little big-eyed blue buddy alive is when things get truly terrifying.

No, I am not talking about when you run into a monkey hurling coconut bombs at you and you die. That's quick and painless. Imagine that your adorable little blue hedgehog falls into a body of water. Water is his true weakness, because your blue buddy can't swim!

"Oh, but it's no trouble! See? He can walk under water just fine! We'll get out of here easily."

You are wrong, my friend.

As your cute hedgehog struggles to escape from this liquidy substance, moving as slow as if he were moving in sap, a count-down timer appears. This would be all fine and dandy if it were a friendly count-down, merely reminding you how long your precious hedgehog can hold his breath any longer. But no, oh no. This timer accompanies itself with the most PANIC-INDUCING MUSIC YOU WILL EVER HEAR IN YOUR LIFE. As the timer starts from 5, and descends its way to 0 with the numbers fading out by blinking cruelly, so too does the music begin to get faster and faster to reach its crescendo. Most likely your heartbeat will begin to match the beat of this music as it yells at you to move faster or it will be all on your burden that this cute blue hedgehog will drown mercilessly through the slow torture of this syrupy-like water. And then, if you fail to escape, as that agonizing "0" reaches the screen, you'll use your instincts to react to this hopeless situation in the smartest way possible: you let out a BLOOD-CURDLING scream and turn off your Genesis before the innocent hedgehog drowns, running out of the room to wail pitifully to your parents.

You can almost hear the cruel chuckle of your Genesis as it basks in the glory of committing child psychological torture and whispers:

"I still live through the Mega Collections"

BioShock. Demo scared the living crap out of me. This is how.
