Re: What would you like to be when an adult?
Heavy metal god.
That's my fantasy anyway. Everyone wants to be some kind of music star at some point or another.
More realistically, a cartoonist. I'll probably have to start off storyboarding or something for someone else which will suck, but hopefully afterward I can make my own stuff.

Re: What would you like to be when an adult?
^Lol, yea, I always see myself as some guitar hero, but I know it won't exactly happen.
Anyway, what I want to be is a video game designer or an engineer...or both, I already design things with both Gmax and now Blender, here's some pics of what I just now designed for a video game. If you've heard of Heavy Gear, you'll recognize the Hunter. Spoilered just incase.

Yeah, I had a brief time last year hen i wanted to be one, very very brief though!
In truth, i'm a terrible worker, I'm extremely lazy and I get bored/Tired easily. Unless i get a job i really enjoy, i'm probably going to have a hard life.

Re: What would you like to be when an adult?
For all of you that want jobs in game design or programming, I have 2 tips for you:
1. Communication is just as important as your ability to program. If you cannot communicate how good you actually are, you will never get the job you want.
2. Start at a young age so programming concepts are hammered into your head.

Re: What would you like to be when an adult?
heh, thats weird, quite a lot of people here are doing game design. XD
I'm used to being one of the very few who want to do it while many others choose other different career choices, like animation or being a teacher etc. etc. haha

Re: What would you like to be when an adult?
Game design is pretty much the rock-star dream for people who play video games.
They think "I could make the best game ever!" but in the off-chance they get in the field they'll just end up as some code monkeys.

Re: What would you like to be when an adult?
its the same with being an author except instead of ending up as code monkeys you either have a really unsuccessful and nearly unheard of book, or no book at all

Re: What would you like to be when an adult?
I'm going to be a vet (hopefully)
All I have to do is take the right subjects in school, pass my first tertiary studies year, pass the five year veterinary course (murdoch does 5, but some colleges do 6) and then somehow get the money to buy my own practise... yeah, easy
Or a zoologist, but i think that takes longer and i want to help animals and make them feel better. lol
Can't wait for BRISINGR!!!!!!

I've known many people who play video games most of their time (or lives) but dont do anything in their career involving game design. >_>
I was going to choose animation because I've kinda liked storyboarding or the other things involving animation. but no...not for me.
But yeah thats quite true. Code monkeys? XD
Well so help me I dont end up working w/ one...I'd rather know of one than work w/ one but you never know, things might just turn for the worst.

Re: What would you like to be when an adult?
You could be a game reviewer and have fun making critiques on new stuff that comes out.
As said already, there are many different aspects of creating a video game, so you don't have to be a code junkie.

Re: What would you like to be when an adult?
There are many aspects of it, but coding is a real nice chunk of the process. So chances are, if you do get into video gaming, you're going to be writing lines and lines of code to make the character bump their head on a wall, not pitching some awesome idea to a multi-million dollar company.

Video game coding is not for those that get frustrated easily.
