Re: Pokemon
Most 15 year olds have no interest in pokemon anyways :S
HAHA, I REALLY beg to differ. There are a ton of people anywhere from 5 years old to 30+ years who are still into Pokemon - and we're not talking about any Pokemon fangroup. I know several people 20-25 years old who are still ecstatic about Pokemon games (and not cause they're huge fans either).
The reason why Pokemon expanded so much is because it's popular of course. Unlike, say, Madden games however, Pokemon doesn't tend to bore out players. The concept of "catching them all" has been exactly the same throughout several games, yet the number of people still playing Pokemon games show that the concept has yet to become stale - and I still casually enjoy it myself.
I don't take Pokemon too seriously despite all the hype, thus I choose not to see it as a "cult". If you take Pokemon lightly, playing the games doesn't mean you are associating yourself with a "cult" that's recruiting the world with soon-to-be-addicted 9-year-olds.

Re: Pokemon
Well, let me just clarify: I'm not saying you have to like something if it's childish. Mature games can be great too. It all depends on why you would avoid watching/playing the show/game. If you simply don't have any interest in anything deemed "childish" because you don't find it entertaining and such, then that's perfectly fine. But many people who don't watch/play "childish" shows/games do so for the sake of saving their image of maturity. I find that ridiculous - don't let the contents of media designed for a certain demographic to influence your behavior as a result. Then you'd tend to judge games pretty much like "the cover of a book". That's ignorance.
dragonprotector x, don't be silly. This is NOWHERE near a flamewar. We're just having a respectful discussion/debate, and that can certainly be done without playing around with foul language and such. So your comment was uncalled for.

Re: Pokemon
I think we're talking about two slightly different things. I'm referring to games mainly, while you're talking about the TV show, in which I can certainly understand. Still:
" I only like the gameboy games, they are entertaining but the show and future games I think are just too childish."
So yeah, a lot of people haven't been watching the Pokemon episodes for years now. But I still don't understand why you'd make the presumption that future games would be any less appealing than current or past ones. That's what I'm mainly trying to point out.

Re: Pokemon
Several are now released onto the DS, actually. The big two are Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, which is pretty much the 4th generation of Pokemon (yup, 4th). Right now, I'm quite engrossed in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. The second of the series, P.M.D. Explorers of Time and Darkness, are both on the DS. The first of the series, P.M.D. Blue Team and Red Team were released on the DS and and Game Boy Advance respectively.
I've actually skipped the third generation of Pokemon games (Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire) because I lost interest in Pokemon. Then I decided to give it another try with Pearl, and surprisingly, I'm back into action! Maybe it's nostalgia.

Re: Pokemon
Ž · The show does not meet overall standards. The series itself is inevitably direted to the younger masses, obviously... and the pedo-at-heart... if you know what I mean.
Also, if anyone wants to compete...
Pokémon Battle Simulator. It uses battle system of Diamond and Pearl. Clauses, Rules, and Tiers are also in line.
So if anyone wants to battle me, you can either do so through Nintendo WFC, Pokémon NetBattle, or Shoddy Battle.
