Original Spyro was fun at the time. When people grew up, their personalities change too.

Games like the old Spyro wouldn't sell in todays market. There isn't enough interest. There was this kid (10-12yrs) in gamestop yesterday and he was looking for a good platformer. I told him Spyro was good. This was his response: "I don't want to play a game that you just run around breaking boxes open and collecting rocks. I want to play games like Halo where you actually have fun." I didn't bother telling him that they are gems. wink The vast majority of people today don't want that kind of platformer. They want action. The old boss fights were fun and exciting but they don't compare to blowing up spaceships with grenade launchers of today's games.

He was looking for a good platformer like Halo? WTF? Halo isn't a platformer, its A FPS, what is he talking about? The majority of Platformers have collecting involved, its to make you explore and such.
Platformers dont involve blowing up cars because what? thats not what platformers are!

Some people like FPS and some people like Platformers, just like 10 years ago. There are alot of people out there would like Spyro to be remade for the PS2 or a new old Spyro game to be released.

And no, i wouldn't recomment AHT or ETD to anyone anyway.

Halo can be classified as a platformer due to the fact that it has platforming elements. Yes some platformers can involve collecting things but they also have combat. The old Spyro had charge and flame. That's it. It was designed for the ps1. PS3 isn't made for games like the old Spyro. It's for Ratchet and Clank, God of War 3, Grand Theft Auto.

Heres an idea, go to the Halo or the God if War forums and make a topic saying "Is halo or God of War a platform game", i guarantee you that 100% will say NO!

Combat is not what i call hit and kill, normally combat games revolve around a whole lot of different moves and killing your enemies slowly.
Halo is not a platformer, you can jump but it really isn't the main focus of the game.

How about this:
Facts- Isomniac isn't coming back in the near future and likely never. (Too busy developing Resistance: Fall of Man 2 for PS3. After that, more 1st person shooters)
A true fan will follow Spyro wherever he goes, even if they they don't think it's as good as the old series.
LOS and the original trilogy cannot be compared. They are too different. (Platformer, Combat)
Opinions-
Some people like the old Spyro.
Some people like the new Spyro.
A true fan wouldn't complain about a series because Spyro looks different and the game is different. If Mario was still about jumping over Goomba's and saving the princess, it would have died out years ago. If Spyro kept collecting gems, he would have died out years ago. Games must evolve to survive. It used to be all platformers and screen scrollers. Now it's combat and First-Person shooters. If Spyro is to survive, he must evolve.
1.Tell me one post when i said that i think insomniac will come back, or even origijnal Spyro will come back. I've accepted that he will most defiently wont.... and i know that Insomniac wont come back!
2.The thing is, A game not being as good as it should of been is only half the argument, the other half is that fact that if a game reboots and changes, it doesn't really feel at all like it was before.
Mario has evolved, but has stayed generally the same. But in response to your thing about goombas and the princess....well..... Spyro's first REAL game was SMB1 which came out in 1985, he jumped over goombas and saved the princess, the game SM64 came out in 1996, 11 years later and what? Mario was jumping over goombas and saving the princess? yet people reguard that game as one of the greatest games. OK!, i know, the game was practically supposed to be a remake of SMB1 but in 3D but still, games CAN evolve but still keep their sole purpose. Mario has stayed a Fun, happy, mushroom, bright star platformer series and people love it.
Justy on a side note, New Super mario brothers, a game released in 2006 has mario jumping over goombas and saving the princess! >_<
Infact, i would love Spyro top have spinoff games, but games like TLOS which just stop and remove the old series in its tracks arn't cool!
What they could of done to change the old series:
1.Add in some spinoff games
2.Bigger games (more play time, but not boring play time like AHT)
3.Time trials
4.Co-op
5.Online Play
6.Customization
7.Multiplayer
8.Replay value
9.Lots of variety
10.Choose the difficulty
...and the list goes on.
The makers of ETD and AHT didn't know how to improve Spyro, they obviously didn't deserve to develop him.
Who said platformers arn't in these days? its just that alot of developers are making FPSers for some reason. I bet theres a huge demand on platformers these days, and you can tell by the sales of games like R&C:TOD, New Super mario Brothers and SMG.

We were talking about how games have to evolve. Mario is a prime example.

Anyway, Halo has platforming elements. And I googled Halo and there are people who believe it to be a platformer. Name a few good platformers that has been made in the past few years that have sold well.

2.Super Princess Peach
3.New Super Mario Bros
4.Jak 1, 2 and 3
5.Ratchet and Clank 1, 2, 3 and TOD
6.Rayman 3
7.Ratchet and clank Size matters
8.Psychonauts
9.Rayman Raving Rabbids
10.Sly Cooper
11.Super Mario Sunshine
And the list goes on...

Spyro had to come before Figment because Figment wasnt made untill of late because of the Graphical Design of him...They may have had drawings of him early....but i dont remember them haveing anything with him in it before Spyro was made. Becase when Spyro was made....graphics wernt that great compaired to now...and all the things Figment was in there had excesively good graphics.
