What was the greatest empire the world has ever seen?

By the way, "greatest" means, strongest (Political, Economical, Military Might)

I'd say the Roman Empire, the US didn't have a massive empire, democracy and independance came before they really got started. Germany's empire was controversial. The British Empire, yeah fine, the British Armada (or navy nowadays) was and still is the best in the world. But think how many times we were invaded in the past because our army stinks? The Roman Empire and the Vikings squashed us and each setup died with the reigning monarch. France and Spain, apart from the World Wars and the 100 years war between France and Britain, I don't really know about their Empires. Though I also don't know about the Persian and the Macedonian Empires, I haven't really heard of them! big_smile China might be a force to be reconned with in the future though.

Yeah, unfortunately.
Especially with the value of the dollar dropping.
China's currency is already much stronger than ours.

Lol, but its happened before hasn't it? I remember in like Year 8 seeing a picture of little kids playing with a huge pile of American Dollars its value slumped. It recovered then didn't it? So it makes sense it will recover again.

Yep, the Anglosaxons (or whoever) didn't stand a chance! Are the Vikings classed as an empire? They easily invaded us as well.

I duno but atleast we maneged to eventually drive the vikings back the only reason the romans left is because they had trouble at home

Most of the Vikings settled in Iceland and were no trouble anymore so I guess they aren't.

The Vikings never had an empire. They invaded Europe and settled, they never had an established government.
PF, I know it will recover but no nation can last forever as a world power. There are only 4 countries that have remained strong throughout history: Egypt, China, India, and Persia (Iran). Rome lasted over a thousand years but it eventually lost power. The British Empire lasted 700 years before it lost its empire. (Although the U.K. is still a power today) In over 10,000 years, no great nation has held up against the test of time, save China.

I guess you could say the roman Empire..I kinda liked their style..it seemed to be the best,and most artistic..but gruesome they were.

Actually, the Roman Empire was not a cruel empire at all. Unless you got on their bad side, they let you keep your religion (Until the Holy Roman Empire), your customs, and they didn't always force you into submission. The Assyrian Empire however, was brutal. They raided cities and killed anyone in their path, they even beheaded babies.

Mm, yeah they were.
They were very brutal in punishment and even quite gruesome.
They also had several very corrupt and insane emperors.
I don't remember if it was before the Holy Roman Empire or not, but they persecuted many people who didn't believe in the Roman Gods.

The Romans didn't copy Greek gods. The Romans descended from the greeks. Most of the Roman gods just have different names.
