Re: The making of Spyro music

I just want to comment that I'm not particularly fond of the newer Spyro music. Since A Hero's Tail, the game music has a taken a turn for a more cinematic feel, which I guess I'm not used to. Spyro shouldn't sound like a Lord of the Rings musical score. I seem to enjoy the jazzy and soft rock style of Stewart's music, especially in the first game.

Re: The making of Spyro music

That is your opinion Ratchet. I really enjoy the new music and does fit Spyro's new theme.

Re: The making of Spyro music

I may be only 16 ratchet, but the thing that annoys me though, is that people who cling to the original of something, whether it's music or whatever, don't usually view anything from newer areas with an open mind. And honestly, it seems a lot like that with you and the TLoS series. A fair critic keeps an open mind to both the old and the new, not just focusing on how something is compared to the old.

Re: The making of Spyro music

Yeah i agree blaze, its the same with some people, but i seriosly, i didn't really like the TLOS music apart from the theme.
AHT wasn't very appealing, i loved Spyro 1 and 2, Spyro 3 was good but is wasn't as good as the first 2, Spyro:ETD was starting to loose it but i still liked it a bit.

Re: The making of Spyro music

I really need to play ETD again. Regardless of it being buggy, easy and short, I really liked the game. smile

Re: The making of Spyro music

Stuwarts Genius. Ive always loved his spyro compositions, fits it perfectly.

Ive just got ETD, playing through it, i quite like it in alot of ways too, despite the annoying things.

Re: The making of Spyro music

While I was playing what I could of Spyro 3, I noticed some very catchy tunes in the levels. Spooky Swamp had a nice drum rhythm lol

Re: The making of Spyro music

Spyro 1 especially! I really wanna make a Trance remix of Magic Crafters. I've got the idea going around in my head. It could work well. If only I knew more about those d*** plugins! lol

Re: The making of Spyro music

I hope to make some kind of remix, but it's gonna take a long time before I relearn all the music composition stuff I did years ago. I don't want to embarass myself by releasing a crappy or generic song. Not until I'm decent at least.

Re: The making of Spyro music

Lol I did that once. Back in 2004 when I just started learning. I was using Music 2000 on PC which doesn't give good quality on song saves. Luckilly I was able to import some M2K samples into the software I use now (FL Studios 5 & 7). I got a really negative review on my first remix I submitted to VGMix.com back in 2004. I submitted a second one after that and got better feedback, but I haven't released anything there since. I considered signing up a few days ago to VGMix X, a revamped version of the site brand new for 2008. But a lot of the community are somewhat discriminating in the sense that you have to sound good to even be liked. There are a few people I know there who are nice, but just a warning that it's hard to find them amoungst the litter of sadists.
