Re: Your Dæmon? (Requesting Closure)
My fox daemon is apparently named Klitus. How did they know I live in the South?!
Also, that's quite an assumption to make about the gender of my daemon there, but I guess they had to tone down a few things besides the preaching to make this film family friendly. ![]()
When I was younger and a young Christian, the very notion of this series of books horrified me. Now that I'm older, I find that I enjoyed the first book well enough (except for the blunt, badly re-phrased Bible passage; c'mon, Phil, you can do a better job of changing Scripture for an alternate universe!) and I am willing to read the series before I pass judgment. I disagree with Pullman mightily, but I enjoy his writing style and he knows how to tell a good story (if he'd just leave the atheist preaching out of it). What a person believes is between him and God and it is his own choice to make based on the life he leads. I may not agree with everyone who doesn't believe what I do, but it is their decision to make, not mine.
I'm not sure if I'm excited about this movie or not. The trailers make me cringe and I hate the actual pronunciations of the names and words (I had different ones and I'm quite fond of them; LIE-ra, DAY-mon, AYE-or-rik, etc). But I'll finish reading the books before judging them and then maybe I'll see the movie if Pullman hasn't made me hate them by the end (I already dislike "The Subtle Knife").
Also, the music on the site is pretty and I appreciate the narration (since it's a ****able Flash site, I can't read anything on it).

Re: Your Dæmon? (Requesting Closure)
I also don't appreciate people criticising almost every thread I create here. Spyrorocks with the Harry Potter thread, and now SpyroGirl101 saying I'm anti-God.
Spyrorocks, if you read this thread, please close this. Apparently this topic is too contraversial for this community of mostly thirteeen-year-olds and under.
OK sure. Its your thread.
Just my 2 cents, it doesn't bother me when people say "Oh my god!" because they are talking about their god, whomever it might be, and I know followers of the god I worship would never use his name in vain.
Just my 0.02...
