Re: OMGOMGOMGOMG
The 1960’s were an extremely diverse time in history. From the novelty songs of 1960 to the protest music of 1969, the culture changed unimaginably fast. Our modern culture has remained almost the same since around 2000, but the culture in the 1960’s seemed to change nearly every year. One of the most significant of these changes was in 1964. On February 9, 1964, The Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan Show. Since many Americans watched the Ed Sullivan Show, they got to see how talented (and attractive, if they happened to be a teenage female) The Beatles actually were. That was the beginning of a time known as The British Invasion.

Re: OMGOMGOMGOMG
In the 1950’s, the times became a bit better. American sailors brought records to Liverpool that was by artists such as Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly. Many teenagers heard these records, which would affect them greatly. In May 1956, “Heartbreak Hotel” by Elvis Presley was at number 2 in the UK charts. Many British teenagers could relate to him. His dyed black hair and snide expressions… this was someone they could relate to. This was one of the first examples of American musicians inspiring British teenagers. After the success of “Heartbreak Hotel”, many other songs by Elvis Presley also became popular in Britain, including “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Don’t Be Cruel”. At around the same time that Elvis Presley first became popular in Britain, another genre of music called skiffle also became popular in Britain’s underground music scene. It actually originated in New Orleans at the turn of the 20th century in the United States. It was characterized by using guitars and objects not typically referred to as musical instruments such as washboards. Many teenagers created bands that played skiffle and rock music, such as The Quarrymen. After persuading a few of his friends to join him, one particular teenager named John Lennon formed the Quarrymen in the spring of 1957. They temporarily called themselves The Blackjacks, but, after they discovered that another local group was using the same name, they renamed themselves The Quarrymen, after the school they went to. The Quarrymen played a unique kind of music that was a combination of American rock music, skiffle, and their own charm. However, this was only the beginning of a huge metamorphosis that would happen to these and many other teens in the years to come.

Re: OMGOMGOMGOMG
In 1963, something happened. A teenage female named Marsha Albert heard a small snippet of a Beatles song, called “I Want To Hold Your Hand”. She then wrote a letter to a deejay asking to play that same song on a radio station. The deejay then imported a record from Britain, and, sure enough, on December 17, 1963, “I Want To Hold Your Hand” was played on that radio station. Soon enough, people were listening, and The Beatles were growing in popularity. The same radio station continued to play Beatles music, which made The Beatles’ fan base grow.

That's quite a success story, isn't it?

Re: OMGOMGOMGOMG
its some random paragraphs from this paper I wrote for school
England in the years following World War II wasn’t the nicest place to live. Four million houses were bombed during the war. Food was rationed. However, what the British saw on television was a completely different story. Due to being a poor country at the time, the vast majority of shows on British television were actually from the United States. It was the same thing with comics. While American comics such as Superman were printed in vibrant colors, those same comics were printed in Britain in black and white monochrome. This was the life that most British Invasion musicians grew up in.
