Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Swaffy suggested playing Counter Strike again tonight, and I thought maybe we could have a thread for organizing this kinda like we do for the stream.

What you need to know
We have a nifty little Steam Group here! If you have Steam and you haven't already, feel free to join it! It's fun playing games together.

What games we play
I'll keep this updated as we add more games to our repertoire.

- Counter Strike -

What to do in this thread
Let's use this thread to both organize our... tournaments? Sessions? and also suggest new games for the group to play. For example, I'd like to suggest Star Wars Battlefront II. Thoughts everyone else?

Information for tonight
So what time would work for everyone and who all would be willing to join? Would 8pm central time work? Or should we use the same time as we Stream and do 10pm central?

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

I'd be down to try some Counterstrike with you guys tonight. Though I've never played it so I'll probably be awful. 8 or 10pm Central would work for me (unless something irl comes up tonight, but I doubt it). It's too bad I missed the streams, maybe I'll catch one now that we have this handy thread.

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Don't worry, nearly all of us suck tongue it's pretty fun anyway, sometimes we just do humans against bots. SR has some pretty fun mods installed on the server. For example when you're killed by friendly fire you can punish them by turning them into a chicken... which is way more fun than being a human so it is a horrible punishment tongue

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Maybe we could do some L4D2? I've never seen more than 8 people on the server at once, so it could work. We'd have to turn allchat on, though, of course.

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

That might be fun to play sometime.

Does anyone have or have access to a private server for CS we could play on? The one we used before appears to be down because I can't connect to it.

It's a great idea for the general forum. It's not too gory and Star Wars is widely liked. I can buy it to play with you guys.
I would also like to suggest Battlefield 1942 since it's dirt cheap (and free for the Origin users!) and also can have tons of mods.

I would prefer 9 PM Central Time because it would allow for people in the time zones for 7 PM Pacific up to 10 PM Eastern time zones.

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Well as of right now I don't believe we have a working server up for Counter Strike. I like all the ideas of new games and we can try and decide on one for next time we do this! I think it's a bit too short notice to have everyone buy a new game now considering so many people here have CS from the last time tongue Stormy and I haven't eaten yet so it'll be a bit yet before we're able to play but if anyone finds a way to do it start whenever!

Only multiplayer games I have on steam are Castle Crashers, Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2 and Torchlight 2

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Well, by the looks of it, it's a no go tonight. Flapjacks suggested in IRC that we should set up a set date of each week to play. I'm okay with this. He also suggested Wednesday, I am also in favor of that. In the case that we don't get access to a CS server, what game should we play? Seems like everyone or most everyone has TF2, so maybe that.

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

We should do Saturday or Friday IMO.

If I get the games. We could do Battlefield 1942, since everyone here can run it tongue

...But can Stormy run it?

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Why does everyone always question if I'm able to run things? tongue

I only have TF2 or CS, and I'm not really looking to buy any others, so I'll probably only be able to play if we do one of those two anyway.

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Would anyone be interested in a game night sometime this weekend?

I haven't played the game yet, but you can get Monaco:What's Yours is Mine from the Humble Indie Bundle if you pay more than the average ($4.53 currently), and it sounds like it's got a fun online co-op mode. So that could be a fun and cheap option. Also you get Guacamelee (which is a fantastic game) and four other games.

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

This weekend would be perfect since I give myself weekends off. tongue I'll let everyone else decide on the game because I'm pretty clueless about PC games, but if we could play one of the ones I have installed already (CS or TF2) that would be easiest for me.

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Any game I have installed is fine. Some of the games I have are CS, TF2, L4D2, CS:S, Gmod (I highly suggest we play this, however it requires pretty much all these games before it and more to see all of the textures,) but there's too many to list.

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Seems to me like TF2 would be the best option since basically everyone has that already. I believe SR fixed the CS server though, so if he did let's do that. (I will test if he did early tomorrow) Shall we plan for tomorrow night at 9pm Central?

Re: Spyroforum/Spyrochat Steam night!

Let's do TF2!

Edit: Depends on my internet... I'm using 4G Phone Internet since I got rid of my ISP for this next week. Let's see how it turns out.
