The Legend of Zelda series
How many of y'all like (or love) this series? If so, what is your favourite game of the series? Favourite character?
Personally, my favourite games are ocarina of time, twilight princess, and windwaker. I tried playing majora's mask and, yes it IS a very beautiful game but....ehh...can't get past the time limit. A lot of people like the challenge of the 3 day time limit though and that's fine. As for favourite character, obviously Link is number one, but I also find myself lovin that big ol goofy boat, the king of red lions.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
I think Wind Waker is my favorite game. The art style just really stands out to me, and I love the addition of the ocean. Some people don't like that addition, but I really like being able to sail across the sea and come across random things like pirates or sea monsters. It also had some of the best dungeons in the series. I thought they were really creative.

A lot of people didn't like Zelda II, but I don't really know why; I liked it a lot, probably more than the first, even.

It's an ok game. Just compared to the other games, it seems like it did stuff way too different and changed things way too fast.
Also beating Dark Link legit is almost impossible.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
I've played: Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time 3D, Link's Awakening, and Spirit Tracks.
My favorite is probably Twilight Princess. I'm sure I would probably get a lot of hate for this, but playing Ocarina of Time for the first time afterwards, it just seemed like an inferior Twilight Princess (which makes sense given the timeframe the games came out, but many people still insist it's the "best game of all time"). I think I got to the 7th dungeon in Link's Awakening and got stuck and never went back to it. And I finished Spirit Tracks, which was a lot of fun. I've seen stuff from Zelda 1 and 2, but I don't think I could get into a game that old...I've never actually played an NES to be honest.
Anyone got their hands on A Link Between Worlds on 3DS yet? And if so, what do you think of it? I've heard only good things about that game, but I'd like to play a Link to the Past first, just because.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
I love the series. Don't play it but do love it. Favourite character Link of course second favourite Zelda, and third well Tingle. His tingle ness is most amazing.
And my favourite is one I tried Twilight Princess I sucked but enjoyed it! Looking forward to the next Wii U Zelda Title and seeing a Let's Play it and A Link Between Worlds.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
I've never played a Zelda game, but I've heard a lot about how good they are. This probably makes me somewhat of a hipster, but part of the reason I've put off trying it is because a small, obnoxious minority of the fans act like you just killed a puppy if you tell them you've never played it, and I now associate the games with those people.
If, hypothetically, I was to play a Zelda game, which one should I start with?

The first one, i suppose. But then again my first zelda game was twilight princess, but i did research about the series before going into the game so. Perhaps ocarina of time? It depends on what gaming system you have, unless you want to use an emulator

I've spoken to you personally about this before, but I agree. I love Ocarina of Time, but Twilight Princess just feels more... polished? Complete? Also I agree with you Giganoto about Majora's Mask. It was fun, but eh.. time limit. Plus the story was a little too weird for me. I like the traditional fantasy story of the other two I mentioned. I'm excited to play Link Between Worlds, but I haven't acquired it yet.
Stormy: I say Twilight Princess. I would argue it's the most accessible.
The other Zelda games I've played are: Wind Waker, Spirit Tracks, and Skyward Sword.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
Yeah, Twilight Princess sounds like a good place to start. Do it. Don't be a hipster.
Now that I have a Wii U, I should pick up Wind Waker HD. I had a Gamecube, but never played Wind Waker. But then I want to get A Link Between Worlds, and Mario 3D World, and a Pro controller or two...maybe I'll just play my backlog of Steam games instead.

You could find Zelda mods for all your Steam games and meet halfway. I have a Zelda mod for one of the Total War games, it's pretty cool.

For most of my life I thought Zelda was a male.
Or ... well, what the heck, never mind.

Maybe because Zelda sounds cooler and they think she's more important?

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
I mean, Zelda is a pretty important part of the games too. She's got more character development than, say, Princess Peach at least, but I suppose that's like saying she has more character than a brick wall.
She's a powerful character as the ruler of Hyrule. She even acts as your partner character in Spirit Tracks in a pretty neat way. Basically, there's three main characters in each game for each piece of the Triforce: Link (holds the triforce of courage), Zelda (triforce of wisdom), and the villain, usually Ganon(dorf) who has the triforce of power. So you could argue all three are equals, in their own right.

Oh yeah of course, i cant argue and say zelda isn't important, and i do count her as one of the main characters, just not the main main protagonist. i dont know (:)

Either way, it's funny to see the hardcore Legend of Zelda fans freak out about getting Link and Zelda mixed up.
