Re: Books

I'm currently reading A Feast for Crows, the 4th book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, as a part of rereading the series immediately after finishing it for the first time.
"Patiently" awaiting the 6th book  (:)
Earlier, I used to read Harry Potter, Harry Potter and Harry Potter over and over again. And some LotR and Hobbit.

Re: Books

Before high school I used to read all the time, but now I haven't read a book of my choosing for fun in years. All the books I've read recently were for school. Now that I'm done with school I've been thinking about starting again, but I don't know where to even start.

Harry Potter and His Dark Materials are still some of my favorite book series. I think I've probably read each of the Harry Potter books at least three times and HDM twice, which is probably enough. I'd like to try something new. tongue

I used to read a lot of teen fantasy novels, but none of them were really all that memorable, I guess. I used to just pick up any book that looked like it would be about dragons, but I'm not really interested in that stuff anymore.

Re: Books

I never read harry potter XD and my life still feels complete tongue

Well this year I'm going to have to read a load of historic books D: for my history.

But once I get Lord of the Rings out the way I might look for a "Fun" historic book series, like "the white queen" that is about the War of the Roses.

Re: Books

I don't read very much. When I was young, I liked reading a lot. Now it was mostly compulsory reading for school, which is finally over, so I can read what I want and not what school want me to..
At the moment, I am reading Watership down. It's about bunnies tongue

Re: Books

Been reading the Game of Thrones books after watching the show. Gotta say it feels good to know what happens next. But the thing is, I now know what happens next.

Goodbye shock factor.

Re: Books

Reading the Space wolf omnibus. I'm a warhammer 40K fan so I usually read either those, or some interesting graphics novels that exist. Loved reading the bone series when I was younger, I still hold it up as my favorite series when it comes to reading.

The shock factor is still there, just only when reading the books. Honestly I think the books are way better than the show. so much more depth to the story

I'm not going to say you have to read it or anything, but it is worth reading if you ever get around to it. And if you've ever seen any of the movies... the books are way better. tongue

My parents used to hide the Harry Potter books from me because they thought I was "obsessed" with them, but really I just read them all the time when I was bored because I didn't know of anything better to read....

Did anyone ever read Warriors or Guardians of Ga'hoole? I enjoyed both of those series in high school. I don't know if the newer books are any good, though.

We did read 3 pages in school and we were going to make it a "thing" and carry on but it never happened and we read Holes instead tongue

That said I did quite like the films and TBH I never give a *bleep* about movie adaptations from books tongue

See I don't really mind knowing what's gonna happen in the show. I like experiencing the shock factor with the books then being like "I wonder how they're gonna handle that in the show.

Worst part about the show is Stannis. They make him out to be evil and kinda an idiot when in the books he's easily the best contender for the throne.

Re: Books

My current obsession is Redwall.  Watched the cartoon series, which is great, by the way.
Lord Brocktree is probably the first book I have read purely by my own will, and I'm reading Mossflower now.

Never heard of it, so I googled it... Looks like a really nice fantasy world :3

After reading very slowly through A Feast For Crows( only about one third of a chapter almost every day before going to sleep), I'm now halfway through the next book, A Dance With Dragons, which so far has been going much faster=)

Re: Books

It helps that Dance With Dragons is a more enjoyable read. The Reek arc is one of the best in the entire series.

As for me I'm about to start reading Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond.
