Re: Music thread

I'm pretty sure we all knew Justin Bieber couldn't keep his perfect image up. And yes I was joking, but it seems pretty mandatory for a musician to do drugs at some point.

That's awesome Clock-la! I've stayed sober my entire life too and I'm 19! ^_^

You planning to keep it that way?

Hmmm it seems somewhat odd for a 19 year old to have never touched a drop of alcohol and plans to keep it that way for the rest of his life. I'm not trying to be rude or offensive but it just seems odd.

Imma jump on the sober-wagon too! Although I don't intend on never drinking. I did, up until recently, when for no reason I felt dizzy and decided that being tipsy might be fun.

That's not even a joke, I found being dizzy fun and decided that I want to drink. I never do though, I have this terrible OCD thing where if anyone offers alcohol, I have to say no, and I find it impossible to say yes hmm

Re: Music thread

I've heard some people say that you have to get drunk and/or high to play
good music. Well, they're obviously wrong. Jimmy Hendrix annoys me, so he's
a good example; perhaps you heard his Star Spangled Banner song. Ugh.

I've never drank an alcoholic beverage or tried drugs, nor do I plan to.

Re: Music thread

If someone wants to go start and alcohol thread that would be fine, but let's at least try to keep it somewhat on the topic of music. tongue

I haven't heard that before. I feel like if you had only a tiny amount it might make you take more risks with your music (which may or may not sound better). But if you have too much it'll just mess up your coordination and make everything suck. And obviously you shouldn't have to drink or take any drugs to be good at anything.

problem is, if you're like that, you need confidence not drugs.

Re: Music thread

Yep, that's what I was getting at with the last sentence of that post. You shouldn't rely on drugs to make you good at things or to be more confident. But if it's not a confidence issue and you just try something you wouldn't normally think of, that's what I was talking about in the sentence you quoted there. I wouldn't do it myself (and I'm not really a musician even so I might not even know what I'm talking about tongue); I was just trying to understand where that saying Swaffy was talking about was coming from.

Re: Music thread

So ... I was supposed to get an album (a new release too) as a Christmas
present, but the package hasn't arrived yet. It was bought online, I don't even
know if it was sent yet. Seriously, that's ridiculous, it's been nearly a month.

I guess that's supposed to be expected from a one-man independant band?

Re: Music thread

For the moment, I only seem to listen to Soundtracks and J-pop.

Favourite three composers are Two Steps From Hell, Takanashi Yasuharu and Akira Senju

Favourite three bands/artists are FUNKIST, SID and L'Arc~en~Ciel

Re: Music thread

Well, I got a reply from him by e-mail saying he's refunding me and he's
sending the album. I won't believe the latter until it actually arrives. Maybe
some are just forgetful, like you said ISLS. I got my Hammock t-shirt without
any trouble at all. In fact, there was a scissor cut in it and they sent me a new
one right away, free of charge.

One of my most favorite soundtracks is the Band of Brothers soundtrack.
