Do you have a 3DS or planning to?

I was just wondering.  I just got my Cosmo Black 3DS and pretty much planning to drain my wallet for Mario & Animal Crossing (ah, the joy's of being a 16 year old teenager in 2011).  I'm getting a price difference on the 12th to get my $80 back and get the 20 free games from Nintendo.

I cant vote cuz there is no option for "no"

I don't think the 3DS is an oversized hair dryer.  How does that analogy even make sense anyway?

"A 3DS? How could you possibly have fun playing with those over-sized hair dryers?"

A simple "No" would have been fine.

LOL. the hairdryer comment comes from Spongebob, when Squidward moves out to be with other squids, and plays with a leaf-blower.

as for me, no, i'm not getting a 3DS. i'm fine without oversized hairdryers thank you very much.

It's big and clunky and they fry (or strain) your eyes about a half-hour of playing 3D of what I heard.

Well that's if you actually have the 3D on. And really why would you want to put the 3D on? It's pointless and doesn't add anything to the games.

Re: Do you have a 3DS or planning to?

Disliking 3D is certainly not what you've said. The 3D varies from game to game, but mostly serves to enhance it. Therefore, it is not pointless and certainly does add to the game.

Whether you enjoy their effects is up to you, however. Instead of going all irrational, how about acknowledging their effects - it doesn't mean you have to like it though.

Ok. Do i need the 3D to finish the game? No. Do i need 3D to have unnecessary effects go up to my face. Yes but it's not a good reason for it. The point is is that you don't need 3D to ever finish a game on the 3DS. Therefore it's noting more than a gimmick and it's pointless.

I originally bought the 3DS to dry my hair in the third dimension, but I recently found out it can play games too! Seriously, this thing can do everything!

yearofthe wrote:

Strains your eyes? Not really... As long as you don't widely turn it left and right, it feels perfectly natural. Even if you do widely turn it, it would take more than half an hour to hurt your eyes at all.

bmah wrote:

Because calling someone irrational is the cool thing to do?

How does irrationality even fit in here? He just has a differing opinion. That doesn't make him irrational.

Whether 3D adds to the game or not is a personal opinion. You obviously feel that it does, and he obviously feels that it doesn't. It is completely dependent on whether you like it or not, and to say it doesn't add to games doesn't seem irrational to me at all.

It's what I've heard.  The most I've used 3D maxed at a time was 20 minutes.  It was that Zelda game I burrowed from my friend.  Pretty cool.  No eye strains though.

Re: Do you have a 3DS or planning to?

I'd also like to add that there hasn't been many popular games on the 3DS lineup since the console was released. There's not too much for people to judge by, except stuff like Pilotwing Resort, Legend of Zelda, etc.

Wait till the holiday season when the more well-known series is to be released.

Don't make it sound worse than it really is. See below, it's reworded:

Take that word back; THIS is what I mean: it helps to make it sound like an opinion than a fact. "I thought"/"IMO"/"to me it was like"/"my experience was"/etc.

With the way Latias is saying it, not to mention rumors about eye damage (highly exaggerated), it is more than enough reason to scare off a person who hasn't experienced it. Too bad if someone actually misses out due to these "reviews".

To those who hasn't experienced it, let me say this: you can't take a screenshot of it, have someone else word it, etc. You just have to see it in person. Closest thing I could describe it is like staring into those hidden picture patterns you see in newspapers and seeing an image stand out from the rest (depth perception).

I really wouldn't care too much for a 3DS. Besides for the nostalgic reasons for playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, (found out it was being made from Arby 'n' the Chief) I wouldn't look towards the 3DS.

i've never seen the big deal with 3D anyway but see, i'm an old, old man at age 17, i come from the good old days, where "3D" meant glasses you got in a bowl of cereal to look at promotional images in red and blue.

Being old at age 17? My bro is 16 and he is nothing like "old" would seem in my head. Of course, my head is gunked up with a lot of sh*t anyway, so I could be paranoid. Oh screw, I diverted the topic.  neutral

Re: Do you have a 3DS or planning to?

The 3D you see in movies versus the 3D you see in the 3DS is rather different. For movies with 3D glasses, you have characters and objects popping out of the screen. This is what most people would expect and be familiar with when someone mentions "3D". However, they're often surprised when the 3DS is 3D in a depth sort of sense as opposed to objects popping out.

From what developers and players have been saying, they're getting a different reaction than that of the DSi. Surprisingly, a lot of them are saying, "It has far more potential to be more than just another gimmicky handheld console." I know many of you are probably still skeptical and the 3D is still a gimmicky accessory, but I have hopes for greater utilization of 3D.

I know initial skepticism is natural, but it sorta annoys me when people jump the gun. Give this thing a chance.

Re: Do you have a 3DS or planning to?

How am i scareing people away from the 3DS? Just because i said the 3D is pointless to me, Doesn't mean that i think the entire console is *bleep*. All the console needs is more RPGs to come out for the console. And with Shin Megami Tensai, Kingdom Hearts and a Tales of game coming out for it. It shouldn't have any problem. I'm just saying that the 3D on the console is pointless and unnecessary. But this is coming from someone who hates 3D with a burning passion in his heart and soul. So you can just take my opinion for granted if you want.

From what I can tell, Zelda: OoT is the big one right now. Soon it will probably be StarFox 64. I also have Splinter Cell, and despite the controls being a little difficult to use, is really fun.

I mean, whenever there is ANY argument on this forum, there is always someone calling someone else 'irrational', 'illogical', or something else to insult someone's cognitive skills. It just seems like an annoying fad that is used because it somehow looks like it tips the argument in their favor.

There is plenty of time to think out what you type before you click submit. I'll believe what you say, but try to avoid saying things like that in the future.

I think you give the forum a lot less credit than it deserves. They are OBVIOUSLY going to look at our opinions higher due to the fact that we actually own the thing in the first place. Don't worry, despite having the theme of a 15 year old children's game, people here are pretty smart.

To add to this, anyone who wants to try the 3D for themselves should definitely try the demo kiosks in their local GameStop, Best Buy, Wal-mart, etc.

The next big should be Shin Megami Tensai Devil Survivor Overcloaked. But i would be fooling myself into thinking the series would actually be popular in the main streams eyes. Also I've tried a demo kiosks in a Best Buy once. I had the 3D on and like i said it's pointless. I didn't feel any headaches or eyestrain when i looked at it. But my dad(Who was right next to me) got a headache just by looking at it for a few seconds.

Darn, I was ninja'd before I could edit in my next response. Here it is:

What? No way! I didn't know any of this was happening...

And also, Zelda Link's Awakening is already available to download. And Cave Story 3D is going to come out (it was either 8/11 or 11/8).

The original Cave Story is also available for download too.
